Is there a way in any of the programs above to compare two images to see any changes in files or registry?

Thank you!

There is no automatic way in Macrcium. You could mount the image and look manually for changes. It's also possible you could use some sort of file comparison software to spot the differences once the image is mounted but I don't have any experience there.

How can I mount a CloneZilla image(.img)?

I'd be happy if anyone could recommend such a program...

Thank you!

Thank you!

I've never used CloneZilla so someone else will have to comment.

Limitations:

The destination partition must be equal or larger than the source one.
Differential/incremental backup is not implemented yet.
Online imaging/cloning is not implemented yet. The partition to be imaged or cloned has to be unmounted.
Software RAID/fake RAID/firmware RAID is not supported by default. It's can be done manually only.
Due to the image format limitation, the image can not be explored or mounted. You can _NOT_ recovery single file from the image. However, you still have workaround to make it, read this http://drbl.org/faq/fine-print.php?path=./2_System/43_read_ntfsimg_content.faq#43_read_ntfsimg_content.faq.
Recovery Clonezilla live with multiple CDs or DVDs is not implemented yet. Now all the files have to be in one CD or DVD if you choose to create the recovery iso file.

Macrium also applies here, so if you know how to do so in Macrium (or have a tutorial) please tell me.

Thank you for reminding me of the disadvantages, I have been trying to recall where I read them.

Just double click on the image file or right click and select Explore.

I could use it find original files but what program should I use to compare the data?

Someone else will need to comment on that. I have no experience of file comparison software. I guess it also depends on whether you want to compare the contents of individual files or look for new or missing files.

Low-level comparison will suffice.

Although I would also want to know how to check for added/modified/deleted files, as well as changes to the registry.

You can simply use the "comp" in a command prompt for a binary file comparison.
eg. say Macrium mounts to drive f:
>comp c:\file1 f:\file2
where file1 is on your c: partition and file2 is on f: , your mounted root directory. If you had imaged c: then file2 would be the imaged file being compared

Thank you that's wonderful, now I get the original file in case I don't want to have it revert every file.

Thanks kado, I could use Macrium too and as you said, there is a feature which is much easier to browse with. But with CloneZilla (and I tested the imaging/restoring and I confirm it works on windows 7) I simply burn it on a cd(~120MB) and boot to the data. I prefer this way because I don't have to install another program.

As long as you have a working solution that is the main thing.
