System Specs:

Win7 x64
3gb ram
Dual Monitors. 1) Dell 22inch @ 1680 x 1050 2) Viewsonic 19inch @ 1280 x 1024
Intel Quad core 2.40GHz
Nvidia 8800GT 512MB Driver version 196.21
Tried with July 09 drivers & beta drivers 196.34 with same results.

With that out of the way, My problem. Every so often, and now more and more recently, while I play certain games (Heroes of Newerth, Guild Wars) my screen goes black, flickers, and returns to the game and I get the error message "Your graphics driver has failed and successfully recovered"

driverfail.jpg

It used to happen about one to two times per game.. Now it happens about every 15 seconds in any game I play, even if I am idling in the start screen. Sometimes, it doesn't even recover. My screens just go black and go into 'idle' mode and I am forced to restart my computer.

I don't know if its of note but I am running dual screens. I shut one of them off and the errors kept happening as frequently as they are now.

I thought it was something overheating so I played a game with my case open and a fan blowing cool air into it. No effect.

I uninstalled the nvidia drivers and ran driver cleaner in safe mode, reinstalled latest drivers, same effect.

If theres any more information I need to give, dont hesitate to request it and I'll get it.

Thanks

can you go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search) go to the windows logs>application tab. look for critical errors (they have red in the left column) you are looking for things like app hang, app crash, etc.

Use the built in snipping tool to make a screenshot of one and upload it to us

let us know if you need help
