Solved 1st Build - Major help needed

I don't see how to take a screenshot but it looks just like this under Hard Disk S.M.A.R.T
Except the BIOS shows the serial # and the capacity

SATA3_1 - SSD
SATA3_2 3tb
SATA3_3 not detected
SATA3_4 3tb
SATA3_5 1tb (this is the drive that is SATA and not AHCI)
SATAe3_1 not detected! Disregard ... this is actually E3_1 because it is the esata port.

One thing I don't understand is that when you click on a particular SATA3_X it will give the details of the HD and then under that it says External SATA Port enabled/disabled.

going through the list this is what they say

SATA3_1 enabled
SATA3_2 disabled
SATA3_3 disabled
SATA3_4 disabled
SATA3_5 disabled
SATAe3_1 enabled

I did a quick search and could not find how to screencap BIOS.

Britton,

What's the deal with the combined IDE mode? Seems like it would be useless on a system that's all SATA. I really doubt it but am I missing anything by disabling that mode?
Why would the OS want to make the one particular drive work in Combined IDE vs. SATA?
It also seems like the BIOS/UEFI wanted to default to the drive that was in combined IDE regardless of how many times I set the boot to SATA_whatever drive.

The OS doesn't do it, it's a function of BIOS and your SATA controllers onboard. With combined mode ON you'll have probably to SATA ports running as IDE (emulation), say maybe for a DVD drive. With combined mode disabled, all ports will operate as SATA ports.

The drive the BIOS used combined mode is a year old so maybe that's why it did not just make it SATA.
