Solved Manually Remove Programs

I had Telus Security Services (and Telus Security Advisor) as my anti-virus program and I tried to remove it via the Control Panel but they don't appear in the list. There's an icon at the bottom right of my page which reads that, "Telus Security Services are loading now, please wait". The problem is I'm trying to do a System Restore and it keeps failing and it could be that my anti-virus or firewall is blocking this from happening. I also have Browser Safeguard but I turned all the settings off to do the System Restore. Is there a way I can see if Telus Security Services/Advisor is lurking around somewhere on my computer and if so, can I remove them manually?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me with this.

Manually remove programs

I can usually remove programs via the control panel/add/remove programs but Telus Security Services/Advisor isn't listed. The only place I see it is in the system tray where it indicates "telus security services is loading, please wait" but nothing happens if I click on it. Anyway, I just want to be sure it's not still on my system (and conflicting with my other anti-virus program) and I want to be able to do a system restore.

So I wondered if there's some way to check for its whereabouts and if it is still there, I'd like to remove it.

Most AV programs need a specialized uninstaller - and this one is not even on my list.

Did you try the suggestion in Post # 2? What were the results? That Telus uninstall tool is RptUU.exe cleanup utility.

There's another uninstall tool called RpsUU.exe located here.

Thank you all for your help and I will try to address each suggestion. I haven't tried any special removal tools yet either from Telus or Revo as I thought I had to remove the program manually. I have opened the Task Manager (please see attached) and after following Golden's instructions I see Telus listed twice (one reads that it's running and one reads that it's stopped) As you may have guessed, I'm not really sure what I'm doing but perhaps there are 2 listings because there's both Telus Security Services and Telus Security Advisor. Anyway, what should I do now?

I opened the picture before I posted it and if I clicked the magnifying glass that was hovering over it, it enlarged. I wanted to be sure that it would be readable but, alas, I failed. Sorry. The Name is: VSSERV, the PID is 960 and the status is 'Running'.

Your post seems to indicate that I've done something wrong (visit the forum?). If so, could you please be a little clearer?

Thank you very much for your help. (I sure need it, but at least I'm learning, right?)

I don't think you did anything wrong. Did you use the Tellus removal tool to get rid of the bugger.

Thank you again everyone! I used both Rptuu.exe and Rpsuu.exe just to be sure and it looks like I finally got rid of it. I don't see it in the Task Manager anymore and it's not in the system tray. (Telus Security Services reminds me of a houseguest I once had.)

Bye for now,

It is fun and rewarding to see when people are able to solve their problems with a little bit of guidance. Not everybody has the chance or time to aquire profound technical knowledge. That's where we (as a team) can fill the blanks.
