Hello, it has been a while since I have posted on here. I have been having some crazy problems and I'm not super sure where to post it. Here is what is happening.

I wanted to upgrade to windows 10 so i reserved a copy back in July. I was afraid that i would not like it and wanted a way back to windows 7, so i bought an external hard drive and cloned my internal hard drive just as an extra precaution if something went wrong. I used a trueimage to do that. I also downloaded a program to help me find my product key for microsoft office. I researched it and people said it was safe, so i downloaded that and it worked great! Got my microsoft office key and was good to go. I tried installing windows 10, as soon as it would download it would give me an error message "windows installer service could not be accessed". Tried several times with the same problem. So I gave up and just said okay i like windows seven, why fix it if it isn't broken. Well now, a ton of programs won't open. Heroes of the Storm through battle.net program won't run, steam won't run, AMD Gaming Evolved won't run, AMD Catalyst control center won't run, HP support assistant crashes right after it starts, control panel crashes if I go into certain parts. For me, if i go to system and security and then into system, it crashes. Oh yeah, and windows defender won't open. I have no idea what to do. Scanned with malwarebytes, microsoft security essentials, sfc/scannow (found currupt files that it couldn't fix), tried uninstalling updates on my computer. I have no idea what to do. IF anyone has advice before I do a system recovery that would be awesome!

I booted up in safe mode and the control panel no longer crashed, several other programs worked fine in safe boot. However, HP Support assistant still failed to run. Not a huge deal, I don't use it a whole lot. Does this help narrow down the issue I may be having? Honestly I am tempted to just use the HP Recovery Manager to restore to factory default. I have already cloned my hard drive, so any files I need are already on an external hard drive. Might be good to start fresh, my computer is 3 years old now. What do you guys think?

I'll be more tempted on a Laptop than if it was a Desktop with a retail license.

I'll go for a restore to factory default with the pre-installed HP Recovery Manager partition. In 3 years using it, registry musty have been scattered by leftovers.
