MapleStory BSOD

Sorry, I guess that driver is a keyboard security driver, and comes up a lot in cases when Maple Story is crashing. I wonder if they're related.

I'm theorizing that Maple Story uses some kind of encryption to prevent cheating. Just a guess, of course, just trying to fit the pieces together somehow.

EDIT: I see your second post. Please uninstall Maple Story with Revo Uninstaller and install a fresh copy.

Well I can send a message to the other BSOD experts, but I don't think you can do much other than find another game to play. Maple Story has been known to cause BSODs. If you can find a contact link on the site, you might send them a message and let them know that their program is causing BSODs.

Try some hardware tests for good measure.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 passes.

Try this free video stress test: FurMark: Graphics Card Stability and Stress Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net
FurMark Setup:
- If you have more than one GPU, select Multi-GPU during setup
- In the Run mode box, select "Stability Test" and "Log GPU Temperature"
Click "Go" to start the test
- Run the test until the GPU temperature maxes out - or until you start having problems (whichever comes first).
- Click "Quit" to exit

Hi and welcome

It is fairly difficult to diagnose a problem from a single crash and yours is no exception.

Your two crashes are almost a year apart so we can discount whatever happened to the earlier one as the situation has changed in the intervening year.

The newest one gives little information about the true cause but I note that you have a file that is a huge cause of BSOD crashes.

Its called asacpi.sy and yours is dated 2004 which is almost 7 years before windows 7 release.

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE http://support.asus.com/download/download_item_dna.aspx?product=1&model=P7P55D%20LE&SLanguage=en-us&os=30
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010.

Also of note these drivers are old and need updating.
Code:
9158cap.sys 10/26/2007 10:04:05 AM 0x8d94f080 0x0004d080 0x4721f3d5 0x8d902000
Mkd2kfNt.sys 10/17/2008 04:50:22 AM 0x999b7000 0x00020000 0x48f851ce 0x99997000
How To Find Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

I did the update.
It is now labelled 10/10/2009.
And deleted the 9158cap.sys since its useless.
But the second one is the Ahnlab protection thing that runs everytime i launch the game.
So it will just make another one even i deleted it.
And of course, another BSOD.
Thanks for your help =D

No DMP files included in the upload. Please try this method.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

Hi there,

Seems like Maplestory's HackShield used to cause lot of problem with Security software that an end up in BSOD. I noticed that all the crashes happens while running that Game. So I would recommend to uninstall all the security software and use their cleanup Tool and reboot the computer test without security software and see if that works.

Bugcheck:

Code:
KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.

Hi there,

Then dump files just pointing to Maple Story. After reading lot of cases on the Internet almost everyone's issue was some Firewall application or something application interfering with the Game. Have you try to reinstall it? Let's try something. Uninstall Hot Spot Shield seems like it encrypts the Internet connection. Then test it and lets see if that works. If not then you have to do a vanilla install of Windows.
