Mass Effect 3 Demo released

I hate to admit but I have similar feelings. And I absolutely LOVE the Mass Effect games.

It appears there will be a online component to the game as well.
And after playing the Demo, as I mentioned before, it just feels as is its going for a straight out action/shooter rather than the RPG type game it was.

I mean, there was changes in this direction from ME1 to ME2, but this is just alot different feeling to me.

On the subject of Origin ... dont get me started. I really hate they way it snoops through everything. And they tell you in EULA, in a nutshell, if you dont like it dont use it. But you loose access to your games.
It can be argued that Steam sdoes this exact same thing. And to an extent, thats true. But the major difference is, Steam asks if they can. If you say NO, it doesnt collect any info. You have a choice where-as with Origin, there is no choice.

Not to be funny but I find it laughable about the paranoia with Origin. Really, with all the software we have on our systems, the use of the internet, scan this scan that programs and you have a lot more to worry about than some game manager doing what every other program is doing, whether they tell you or not. And don’t even get me started on Google and all their apps.

Anyway my complaint with Origin is not about Origin itself, but the fact that I have to use "another" game manager. Really?

If all the major game companies adopted this game manager/Store front ideal we could end in with a multitude of "forced" game managers.

That’s my worry – Steam, Origin, who’s next?

And for the record I like Steam, been using it since Half-Life 2. I'd just like to stick with one game manager, whether Steam, Beam, Gleam, or Origin. ONE game manager.

My two cents.

I think this is my main issue as well. Ive been with Steam for a while now, and have quite an extensive game library.
I really do not like the idea of having several game managers, each having certain games. I too would prefer to choose one Im happy with (Steam in my case) and stick with it for all my digital DLs.

Perhaps the biggest part is that Im just used to Steam, and don't really want to change.

I don't mind origin i actually like i can register my retail CD from the box EA games to origin and lets me download them from there so if i ever lost the disk i could directly download from origin. That feature i liked :) Although I also use steam, it doesn't bother me at all really

Game managers have a certain advantage over retail DVDs, the most important being the price. This is where Steam is unbeatable in comparison to all other forms of game delivery. In 2011 they delivered over 780 PB (1PB=1024TB) of data! It just goes to show how much PC gamers appreciate an easier and cheaper way of buying games they like. Collectors' editions with art books, bonus DVDs/soundtrack CDs, and other goods, are still available to purchase if you're nerding out about a game you absolutely adore, and that is fine with me. At least the glorious master PC gaming race has options :D

And luckily, I've never had to experience Origin, and probably never will, because I'd rather die than actually buy another EA game. No matter what they do, I will never give them any support ever again, for good reasons.

Now, back to the topic of Mass Effect 3... To be perfectly honest, for me the ME series has never had an RPG form in the first place, even ME1. It was a flimsy little FPS with interesting gameplay/development details, but that's it. Like Bulletstorm. I never expected to be blown away by the RPG elements, considered it just an FPS, and kept my expectations low. And until ME3 I could swallow it all, but ME3, I seriously can't.

Sorry, don't mean to start a debate or anything, but the only thing I don't like about Steam is I'd have to download it on my crappy DSL (which could take days, depending on the size). I usually just wait for the game in the store to go down in price, and go buy the physical copy in no time at all, whereas I'm not waiting 8-48 hours just to download a file bigger than 2 gigs.

I agree that ME2 did NOT feel like an RPG at all, and I've played ME2 all the way at least once. The only thing I don't like about ME2 is the pricks didn't let people mod the game other than textures and such. What a waste. I've never played ME1, so I can't comment on that one.

Games of any type are a lot like movies. The first one is sometimes the best, (The Matrix comes to mind), and then they'll create a second or third movie/game, and a lot of times; it'll suck big donkey nuts like the third Matrix movie. Another good example is Dungeon Siege 1-3. DS1 was the best, DS2 was pretty lame in my opinion, and DS3 was just absolutely garbage and I only played it for 10 minutes, and it did not feel like Dungeon Siege. A lot of people didn't like the game, either. Somehow, that's the way I'm gonna feel about ME3, too.

Gonna pass on the demo and just wait until the main game's released, not sure how I'm gonna fit it around Uni time. I have about 12 saves to put through ME3 haha.

As for Origin, I kinda understand why EA did it. Valve were being quite unreasonable with their terms of service as to how EA were wanting to deliver patches and DLC. It's a pain having to have another program installed just for a few games when every other game I own is on Steam.

I would feel the same way, if I used Steam. The only game I had on Steam was Portal 2, but I don't play anymore. It just became boring after a while.

I've spent the last couple of weeks going through the first 2 ME games to refresh my memory. I never finished the 2nd one (lost interest or another bigger game came along.. I can't remember) and I'm nearing the end of ME2 now.

I played the first part of the demo. I wonder what the exploration mechanic will be in this one. I liked the idea of the Maco rover in the first one, but got bored with the carbon copy buildings you encountered on the different worlds.

Either way, I'm stoked for ME3. The origin thing is kind of a wash for me. Yet another layer of hassle the developers put between paying customers and their products. I pay for my games and don't steal. As long as they don't make me suffer for being honest by putting a buggy and defective DRM on it, I'm fine. Anything is better than SecuROM.
