Massive BSOD problem

I recently built a new computer system in early March with a Windows XP OS. It worked perfectly for about a month and then began giving the BSOD regularly, at least once a day. I initially assumed that this might be a problem with my newer hardware not being compatible with XP so I upgraded to the Windows 7 64-bit RC. It again worked extremely well for awhile before it started to get stuck in a continuous startup repair loop. I received advice on another forum that the problem might be with my power supply so I replaced my Rosewill 500W with a Corsair 750W about a week and a half ago. The computer has been working flawlessly until early this morning when it started giving me consistent BSODs even in Safe Mode. I ran a disk check which found no problems and then performed a system restore which didn't fix the problem. The BSOD error messages also seem to be different every time. At first it was IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR EQUAL and then it followed up with various ones including BAD_POOL_HEADER and PAGE_FAULT_IN_A_NONPAGED_AREA. With the exception of critical Windows updates I made no recent changes to my system before this started happening. Anybody have any idea as to what the problem may be?

You can try logging in as the real Administrator account. but you'll need to enable it first using Computer Management -> Local Users, or the net user administrator /active:yes command.

All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.
I tried the command and it said "System Error 5 has occurred. Access is denied". I'm going to go get a new external hard drive to back up my files so I may be unresponsive for an hour.

It's because you must run that command from an elevated command prompt. See the tutorials section for further info.

Hello MetalBeard, welcome to the forums.

Despite your initial problems, I hope you will like Seven (if you ever use it for personal use).

This sounds a lot more like bad RAM than PSU. If at all possible, take out one stick of RAM at a time and see if it still works. If it runs with one stick, but not the other.... bad RAM.

I second that, bad hardware. Go download memtest and a hard drive diagnostic utility from the HD's manufacturer. I bet it is 1 of the 2.

Thank you everyone for the information and help. I'm currently trying to find a CD-R to burn memtest onto. I'm assuming I want 86+ since I have a 64-bit system.

Oh and LordBob75 I LOVE Windows 7. Despite the problems I've had, there's been enough times where it works for me to explore it and I have to say it's pretty much amazing.

It would be much easier to just pull out sticks until it works. If none of them do, try some others. As a system builder, he might have some.

I do hope this helps. and you do know how to fix these problems? YES.
If you need more help we shall try 1 fix at a time.

1. Windows 7 has one of the best MEMORY Diagnostics built in.
2. Windows 7 has one of the very best HDD diagnostics and repair utilities built in.

So why does he need to find and download an burn on a disk...?

I didn't say he needed to download anything, I was just telling him becuase he was thinking he needed x86 for 64bit. I was simply correcting him so he didnt get anything in the wrong format if he were to get anyhting.
