You see now?

Then show the MB config tool the DVD Movies folder and the Movie Genre folder

Ok Got it thanks but is there anyway we can get a icon on the folder inside the main folder like TV Series inside is Lost as I just get a blank folder with the word Lost in it.

yes put a folder.jpg and backdrop.jpg in it and they will show

Thanks works great!

Now have some other questions. I have over 100 music video's all in mkv format. how to get them to show up in MB. They show up now but no thumbs. how can I make custom thumbs for these.

OK BadgeMaster I found a answer for you.
If you cant follow this let me know and I will spell it out for you.

Create a sub directory called metadata in the folder which has your video. Then create an XML file in the metadata folder whose name is identical to that of the video just with an extension .XML. In the XML file create a tag like the following:

<Item>
<filename>XXXXXXX.jpg</filename>
</Item>

Then place the custom Thumbnail (XXXXXXX.jpg) in that metadata directory.

1) is it possible to put a folder in for games then when clicked all games will show up and can i then play the game. have wireless xbox controller that i use now on my pc but would like to see about setting this up down stairs. I no im going to have to load each game on the media pc so all the .dll files are in windows but can they be played right from MB????

2) I'm using my pc to get all the folders and subfolders and more sub folders set up. also ripping my dvd collection with it and converting files. alot faster i7 940 clocked at 3.8ghz gygabyte x58 extreme 12gb 1800mhz ram raid 5 4.5tb 42xdvd drive 2 ati 4870x2 in crossfire blu-ray drive in transit. but my question is after this is all done can i just take the confiuration file in program data/media browser and copy that to each pc after mb is installed. my pc is pointing to my networkstorage device and all pc will access that same device.??????

I messed what you were asking here.
Use the config tool in the win start menu to choose a icon for the start up folders

EDIT: or maybe I didn't . Hell its late and my eye are about glued shut, so im not sure what you were asking.LOL

created my own 20th logo but when i put it in program data/media browser/backdrop.png I still have blue lines on top and bottom logo dosn't cover whole screen what did i do wrong???

Update: Clean install again (windows 7 64bit v.7127). Shark codecs made my sound config dissapear so I couldn't use this anymore. I am now trying this solution MKVs for Minimalists on Windows 7 on Hack7mc.com Installed FFDSHOW 32 and 64 bit. Everything is working including VC-1 Encodes. Only problem is that VC-1 codec is not using FFDSHOW???? So if anyone can show me how to fix this?

I should also note that I intitially had my genres folder inside the imagesbyname folder as per what i thought the wiki said http://www.mediabrowser.tv/wiki/index.php/Actor,_Director,_Genre_and_Year_Images but i read it wrong. Only the genres pic files are supposed to go into that folder, not the Genres folder itself. I had them layered too deep and thus did not work.

Looked at MB forum and did not see a tutorial for this, so I had to use the search button "God forbid" lol to figure this out.

DemonSeed if I overlooked this posted somewhere else in this thread, I do appologize. Thanks for providing those links on the other site - that Salami prgram is golden for creating shortcuts - love it.

is there a reason i cannot cut and paste shortcuts from one genre to another. I spent 4 hours last night running all my movies through salami to make my shortcuts and it seems that a lot of genres have double and triple names for same genre.
drama, drama film, family drama - etc, etc

i tried to cut and paste from one to the other and when i pasted the shortcut it started to act like it was the actual file and move 700Mb at once. and the other thing - why do these guys label their movies with 8+ genres - i guess to get a larger market. It is messing me up - i got to delete most of them as i run salami - what a pain in the ass.:mad2:

Now i gotta go back and redo one or the other genres so i dont have 2 or 3 of the same genres. Started already got half the BS out of the folder.
They need to control the genres thing over at imdb - i mean it's insane- a genre for screenwriters, actor, chracter, protest film, your momma sucks film, you name it, theirs a genre for it. So if you dont catch it when you are using salami be prepared for a whole lot more folders being created in your genres folder than anticipated. you can delete as you go but only one by one no shift key action allowed.

OK that's enough I'm done venting.

the other thing is why this snipping tool doesn't have an option to insert text, who the hell can use a mouse to write with!!!!

You can just run through your library one more time and this time before you save any thing remove the weird genres that you dont want and the program will fix the folder that your trying to cut and paste from.

yeah i know it's just a pain - i should have noticed that yesterday, but i thought i could cut and paste so didn't bother - gonna go through the folders that are doubled and edit those genres using salami - then i'll delete the old obsolete folder.

What i want to know when you get a chance is how to do this
