I have an older HP Desktop (Pavilion p6243w) and I know soon enough the HDD will fail at some point, so I've started using Backup & Recovery. I'm backing up ONLY PICS and MUSIC files which are really important to me to save on a PNY 16GB Flash Drive. On the first backup it's already showing from 15.12GB available, 6.73GB has been used with 8.28GB of space left. To free up some needed space I was wondering if this MediaID.bin file is crucial or can it be deleted...same with Other Files which doesn't tell you what exactly are these "other files" and can they also be deleted??Capture.JPG

That MediaID.bin file has to accompany your backup if you want to be able to restore your backup.

If you are just backing up ONLY PICS and MUSIC files why not just copy/paste them to the flash drive?

That would be more efficient in my mind, you don't need to rely on Windows backup for restoring those files, just copy them back.
