Memtest results - How to interpret

I just built a new machine and it looks working fine but a memtest(Memtest86 v.4.20) returned errors whose screen shot is as follows.
What exactly does this mean beyond that the errors were detected?
1. Is the Test #7 being done when this shot was taken?
2. The error happened while the test #6 was running?
3. The error happened for bits pattern of b4ffl1ff?
4. Are all bit patterns tried for each test of #0, #1, #2, , , ?
5. What does the "Bits in Error" mean?
6. What do "Pass 37%" and "Test 72%" mean?

Hiyya churin mate I know this will sound rather tedious but personally I would run memtest with each stick in separately as it could be just one of the sticks that is bad.
That is stick 1 in slot 1 and then 2 then stick 2 the same config.
If that doesn't come up with anything it could be a slot.

That readout I have not seen it show like that before as usually the errors are shown as red bars that go across the width of the screen like in the pic.

I downloaded both of them and found both are named the same or Memtest86 v.4.20. Anyway I am trying one of them and the screen display is different from that as posted in my previous post. It is over 3 hours now since but no error is shown yet. I wonder how long it should be run.

At least 8 passes churin if possible overnight it does take whle to do. Of course if you get errors up staight away you don't need to go for a long time.

Now the difference between those memtest is the readouts plus the download links for them list one as memtest 86 and the other memtest 86+ I think I always use the top ref when I Google for it though once I got the disk made I just keep it tucked away for future use.

Memtest 86 and Memtest86+ and different programs.
We stopped using Memtest86 years ago because the developer was not updating it to work with newer RAM regularly. I only use Memtest86+ from Memtest.org now.

I understand that Passmark software purchased Memtest86 from the original developer and is reissuing it. I don't know if it has been updated to work with the newest RAM.

But for best results in getting feedback in this forum I would stick to Memtest86+ - since that's what most folks are familiar with.

Thanks TV I had an idea that there was something about the Passmark one I've only ever used the one that you have used too and I think churin was using that Passmark because of what that original readout looked like and why I posted the pic to show him what it should look like

One of the two utilities ICit2lol posted looked just like the screen shot I previously posted. Since it looked the same I immediateley quit running it. I ran other one for 8 hours whose screen snap is attached as follows. The settings as shown are all wrong. They should be 800MHz, DDR3-1600 and 9-9-9-24.

Are you sure you have the right memtest as in this one Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool it has to be the 86+ one as TVeblen said the Passmark one is out.

The screen shot looks the same in the last one you sent why is should be showing the RAM like that when it clearly is not the RAM you have has got me beat.

I know it is tedious churin but make another bootable disk and run again. The link is above and just check in the BIOS to see what the RAM is listed as. Speccy will do that as well and if the two match then there s something wrong with the memtest download. Just follow the tutorial link I sent before as well.

Yep. The program in the above screenshot is the Passmark one. Get rid of it.
You must see that + sign in the title name to be the correct Memtest86+ .

That program is confused. It thinks it is still 1998 and can't understand how a RAM stick can be larger than 512MB!

That red plus sign was blinking and it apparantly was off moment when I pressed the shutter. Anyway, I made a new download, burned a new CD, ran it and made a new snap shot which shows the plus sign. Despite of what shows on the snap shot, the RAM DDR3-1600 was running at 800MHz and CAS 9-9-9-24.

I don't understand churin it is still showing DDR2 when your board clearly supports DDR3 and you say you have DDR3 sticks in.

Can you check the BIOS mate and see what is listed there because something is very out of whack somewhere.

You may be as well to run these too to exclude something else going on if you haven't already

I don't understand either indeed. I just built this machine two days ago and am running W8 Pro on it. Do you think a virus(es) might already be having a field day on the machine?

Churin it might be of help to join up to the 8 forum mate - I have upgraded for the time being to 8 on my main laptop and all things being equal I have given it a good try but apart from the speed mate I am really getting a bit tired of the constant hiccoughs.

So glad I cloned from the 7 SSD to another for this trial and didn't over write the original SSD.

The 8 forum has a lot of members from this forum there in fact it is run by the same admin so there will be no problems.

Why that ISO isn't booting to the memtest though is a real worry.

As a suggestion and just a suggestion and I know it is more expense why not get another drive say a SSD and an OEM 7 and install it? The data you could back up to the spare HDD and / or an external if you need a lot of space but at least the boot would be fast.
I am really sorry that things haven't gone smoothly at all for you being a new build mate I would be so disappointed myself. But if you had that other drive and 7 you could keep both in and swap across either through the BIOS or just changing the SATA cables.

PS Just a thought - disconnect both HDD's and then boot from the disk.

Despite what have been said I have to believe in Pasmark Memtest86 v.4.20 because the release date of the other one or Memtest86+ v.4.20 is 1/25/2011 when the CPU, FX6300 did not exist(release date 10/23/2012). The release date of Pasmark Memtest86 v.4.20 is 3/18/2013. I have just noticed v.4.30 for Pasmark Memtest86 is released today.

The problem I am experiencing with the Memtest86+ must be due to that the utility fails to properly recognize FX6300.

Hey Churin, I notice that your RAM "Set Memory Clock" is set to Manual in BIOS.
Try resetting BIOS defaults.

• Make note of all your current BIOS settings
• Go to the EXIT Tab and choose "Reset Defaults" (or similar). Reboot
• Immediately go back into BIOS settings and reset all your preferred settings EXCEPT for anything to do with CPU, RAM, or any kind of overclocking. Just leave all as default for the test.

Then run memtest again.

The test is to see if some inadvertent or purposeful change to the RAM settings in BIOS has caused the errors and false readings.

What the OP is showing us is certainly odd, and I can't think of another reason why he would be getting readings like that (other than the two I mentioned: bad RAM, incorrect BIOS settings).

Sorry mate I thought it was odd but had to ask as the thing like you say boots from the disk I was just thrown by your remark re the BIOS and was thinking maybe there is a connection.

Now I see churin is running that darn Passmark test again - churin please stop that one mate it is not the test you are meant to be running use this link and see that tutorial again or we shall get nowhere. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool the test you want is .org NOT .com mate.
