I can't seem to get this to go. :/

The disk has a few minor scratches. I bought it used, so that's to be expected. As far as I can tell it's nothing major.

I don't believe it's my drive either. I just installed Escape From Butcher Bay a couple days ago and it went fine.

Autorun pops up, however it takes a bit longer than usual and the icon for the disk is slow to load, and going through and manually executing the setup doesn't work. Nothing happens.

I can't help but think this is a steam issue, but the fact that autorun is slow, doesn't really ring right either.

Steam help of course sucks.

How is it Steam's fault that you bought a used, possibly faulty, scratched disk????

Anyway you can try cleaning the disk - How to Clean a DVD or CD Disc ?

You can also try copying the contents to the hard drive and then launching installer from there; hopefully that'll work. If not..... well..... you did by a used disk

BTW I've been using Steam since 2004 (Half-Life 2) and don't have any issues. At any rate....

Steam is a digital game distribution system as well as a digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve. It is used to distribute a large number of games and related media entirely over the internet, including automated updates. Issues? - Steam Support

The steam client installer from the disk works. :/

And there are some major problems with steam man. (day one patches...)

But thanks for the tip about copying to the hd. I should've thought about that.

Metro 2033 is a Steamworks game Im pretty sure. So Steam is required.

Sadly, If the game is used and has already been activate via Steam, you will need to buy a new copy. That one is no good.

Once the key is used, it can not be used again.

If the disc itself is bad, you can (if the key works) just register the key and Download through Steam, already patched.
Downloads are usually pretty fast deopending on your connection, and Metro isn't that big of a game.

I too am one who has been with Steam for quite sometime without any issues.
It may have something to do with the DVD drive unable to read the disc properly.
