Hey all

I've tried multiple microphones and also tried an USB audio card(adapter?), but still got the static background noise. The microphones worked well on my laptop, got nice and crisp sound there. Also, when I click listen to this device on microphone settings, I get clean audio as well. I've tried recording with audacity, windows default sound recorder and OBS.
I have microphone settings set to 100% recording volume and 0 Boost (found the static to be lowest on these settings).

Also, some programs like Mumble seem to reduce the static ( while skype, OBS, raidcall, audacity etc don't)

my mobo is
Asus P8-Z77V LE Plus and i use the default sound card ( Realtek® ALC889 i think? )

Just recently upgraded drivers for it, didn't really help.

Do you get any noise when just listening to audio? Just wondering if its a playback problem rather than a recording problem?

My recording studio backup PC is using this same motherboard and an i5 3550 CPU.

No, playback quality is really good.
If it matters, my CPU is i5-3570k

EDIT//
I got it a lot better with uninstalling the Realtek drivers and just using the windows default drivers. I can give more feedback tomorrow when I get to test my production microphone, headset mic quality improved a lot, tho.

The Windows installed HD Audio Codec are just generic, basic function drivers. They do not have the full features of the chip's drivers (in this case RealTek).

I am using the ASUS supplied RealTek drivers on my motherboard, but the direct from RealTek drivers will also work. If you were using the ASUS supplied RealTek drivers, try the direct from RealTek R.273 drivers.
