Hey, I'm trying to get my microphone to work, it works perfectly with Windows XP x32 but with Windows 7 x64 it doesn't work, the audio aspect of it works perfectly and I can hear movies/music/games etc but the microphone isn't working, when I record all I can here is static.

I've tried both front and back panels.

The most I could ever get is VERY faint recording and static noises.

current settings.

I don't know about your software and drivers, but almost all microphone inputs have a check box or similar to raise input levels.

i.e. It is known as "padding" or "boost". Try looking for a setting like that.

Here it is in my software - 1) = My onboard audio, 2) = My firewire interface

Try increasing the gain on your microphone. I increased mine to +40 dB and it working fine. I am also using Realtek drivers

Did you look for a boost setting in advanced or custom tab?

If you don't have that and you already maxed the input volume, then there's nothing else you can do besides using a microphone with better matching impedence for the mic input.

But it works perfectly on XP why wouldn't it work on Win7? The mic doesn't need drivers I assume since it never came with any, I thought it was standard plug-n-play?

When you enable sound playback to the device can you hear yourself? For example. If you mic is plugged into Line 1 and you unmute the playback for line 1 can you hear yourself without static?

Different driver on 7. Maybe it's not programmed to raise the level as high as before. I dunno. I think there probably is a mic boost setting somewhere that could be found.

But if not and you've raised the input as high as possible now, your only hope is to find a different driver and/or use a different mic.
