Yeah, when I go to the sound settings and then to the microphone I see the Microphone level (that can be set from 0 to 100) and then the dB setting (0-30)

I'm using my laptops own mic and so I don't need to shout on it I put those both to the max, 100 and 30. But when I go back later during a call etc. I notice that the Microphone level has dropped back to like 20...

What does this? It's really annoying to contantly put the level back to 100 :/

That's because whatever program is that you're using (Skype, Windows Live Messenger, etc.) is adjusting your microphone levels automatically.

What you need to do is to look in the program you use for this purpose and check the audio/video configuration, disable the option that says "Automatically adjust my microphone levels" and that's it :)

Hi Jepe,

Right-click the speaker icon in the notification area and click on either Playback devices, Recording devices, or Sounds. Switch to the Communications tab.

You have probably got this set as above. This is the default, so you might want to try Reduce the volume of other sounds by 50% or Do nothing instead.
