Microsoft adds repair shop to Windows (Beta)

Is the fix repair good for everyday home users or just production computers? Thanks in advance.
once its out of beta i recommend it is installed. it will provide a good troubleshooting and fix support. although atm there are kinks (it thinks my crts res is too high)

This just might be a good diagnostic tool for us to use here, in some cases.

There are a lot of Users that won't know what to do with information and options given from this program. Like recommending to disable the AV.
So they'll run it in auto, will help some but not all.

It definitely needs to set a restore point before it does anything.

Since I have not run it yet, only looked at the manual options, will running it in auto tell the user what changes were made? If not, the auto could be a big drawback.

I tested the "auto" and it still provides the user the option of making the suggested changes.

Heh, I just gave this tool a try. There are a couple interesting findings. There are "Performance" and "Power" tabs, one suggests a change to "Balanced" power scheme, the last suggests "Power Saver" scheme... And even if you do have something messy, you can 'fake' the main Fix It Center screen by pressing "Cancel". Now you're greenly checked.

Absolutely a beta tool. Didn't found anything interesting at all, as Win7 already has very good troubleshooting tools (at least way better than XP -- skipped Vista, thank you).

(If Microsoft ever allows one to set a "custom" wave to this tool when an issue is found, I would definitively put Mythbuster's Adam Savage "Now there's your problem" on mine)

Hah, a funny one from the tool: I ran the Printer fix, and the suggestion I got was to "Add a printer". I LOL'ed.

HQuest, so did you add a printer? lol

The thing to keep in mind is that, although we are testing a beta program, in reality, we would only be running a Troubleshooting module if we were actually having a problem.

LOL! I honestly thought this was really - really stupid. But this is from me, where i spent most of my time learning how to make my Win 7 on my laptop(which is quite slow) as fast as possible with the aero theme still on, i guess it's oookay. Maybe many people on this forum won't find much use with this. I uninstall-ed it very quickly - as i need the HD space, and didn't find it so useful.
