I would have some very serious doubts that you don't have the RTM.

Imagine how tough it is to create a false RTM.

i've downloaded and examined a beta update for win7 that is scheduled for SP2 and it says that it requires windows 7 SP1 and the build number for SP1 is 7601.17530

NOT 7601.17514, that is floating around now.

so i'm uneasy about this supposed Final SP1 build.

There is no such thing as Windows 7 SP2 beta even in testing, where do you get that from?

7601.17530 is a modified version of SP1 RTM

7601.17514 is the final RTM

Edit: Are you talking about beta versions of IE9? If so then I wouldn't believe everything you read as it's only a beta. Also are you trying to install IE9 beta in Windows XP by any chance?

Kb976932 is the SP1 RTM build

KB976932 IS Windows 7 Service Pack 1 RC and was released in October I think.

I have it installed, it reports itself as SP1 RTM

Actually Microsoft made life confusing as it appears they gave the number KB976932 to all the SP1 (various stages) releases. If you check Google you'll see the same KB number on several different versions dating back several months, which I find rather weird and thanks for pointing this out.

I just noticed that as, until very recently, I had ignored SP1 altogether.

There are many reasons to know that the version I have is the final RTM - the main ones being no watermark by the system clock.

No version number, or words RTM, RC or Beta in system properties next to "Service Pack 1". (Attached pic Item #1)

The Window Genuine Advantage symbol would be absent. (Item #2).

Updates wouldn't be automatically offered (Item #3).

Back to Marcusj0015's query regarding 7601-17530, according to my research that is Windows-NDIS KB2482122 which is , from further searching, Network Driver Interface, so I think this is just numbers, hence the confusion. It has existed through all Windows operating systems since almost prehistoric days.

Perhaps he misread requires Windows XP SP1 or Vista SP1 for Windows 7 SP1?

I got that from here: http://freeweb.t-2.net/solor/Updates.htm which was the only comprehensible Google search result that came up.

i don't remember the KB number, but i downloaded it, and seen the version number.

think what you want start slipstreaming your stuff, find out what happens.

idk what update it was, it was one of those you have to find in a forum, and you have to go to the MS site and be emailed by MS to try the update. because the KB is in beta

OK I believe you but I would like to see a link to it or its documentation so that I could see for myself.

Of course updates included in the next service pack, which is way down the road, would be any update brought out after the cut off time for SP1.

F1Fan, RTM is Release to Manufacturer. If you have the rtm you have the final version
