Solved Microsoft NET Framework : do I need 32 and 64 bit?

I just noticed that x86 and 64 bit versions of this are running on my 64 bit PC. Is that necessary? Can multiple versions of this thing be stopped and uninstalled?

Generally no. Uninstalling .NET frameworks is a good way to cause serious trouble.

.Net framework versions support software you have loaded on your system--Similar to C++ redistributables. If you remove it, you'll cause programs you've installed to fail.
