Hi all
Not sure why you'd want this program -- there's loads of better security sytems out there

but if you MUST have it its still on the small nova and the other "usual places". Probaly will be removed soon -- MS is getting a bit more agressive with the torrents so grab it quick if you really want to try it.

Cheers

I still got a zipped copy of both x64 and x86 (windows 7 versions) if anyone wants them, just PM me.

Also the reason why most want this program is because even though its beta (which truly means nothing these days, especially after Windows 7), it does its job, its light-weight, and is updated frequently. Best part of all.. ITS FREE!

Unlike Norton/McAfee that charge you to use their bulky products, MSE is going to wash them all away. :)

Hi there

If the EU balk at including IE within an OS how long is it going to be before they have a go at this as well -- in spite of the fact that better OS security is good for all "normal and legal" computer users the Commission will probably say that MS is acting as a monopoly and should NOT include a security suite within the OS.

Sometimes "Natural Monopolies" are actually OK -- does anybody really think having loads of different Water companies supplying the same product over the same grid really benefits anybody other than the shareholders -- certainly not the consumers.

The recent case where UK Premiership Football had to be supplied to more than one broadcaster in the UK shows what a mess this whole monoplolies situation rule is -- nobody I knew was particularly disappointed with SKY TV coverage of UK football. Then the EU said another broadcaster had to have some rights so SETANTA started--consumers now had to pay EXTRA (to another broadcaster) for what they had before and the quality was HORRIBLE. They since have gone bust and most people I know said Good Riddance.

I'm afraid we'll get the same B/S with an Integrated security package built in to Windows -- even though it actually makes a lot of sense for the creator of the OS to be the best organisation to actually build in security to it.

Cheers
jimbo

Lets not drag the EU into this, many people already hate them for forcing W7 to remove IE in the European version.

Its a package, as long as it protects the product then its fine, we don't need to make EVERYTHING eco-friendly, the earth is already dead in most ways. Whether it appears dead or not, that is up to you.

The purpose of a protective packaging is, hmm you spend lets say $200 on a disc, and that disc breaks because you mishandled it or 'accidently' dropped it, if that case was more protective the chance of it breaking is slimmer, not sure about you but I do not want to dish out $200 for every Windows disc I break.

Also before anyone says to 'be careful with it' some things are unavoidable.

I do as well. I think a lot of people will like it for how light it is. No drag on the sys whatsoever.

not fast enough
I never noticed a drag on my system from Avast - just over 1mb atm.

You might if you use one of those big suites from Norton /McAfee, etc.

If they do, they are totally wrong.

Let me make it clear, the commission has never ever suggested to Microsoft that they should supply Windows 7 without a browser".
