Microsoft Security Essentials ongoing beta begins

Why is this thread still going? I posted this topic a few seconds after it was first announced and mine was moved to Security?

The Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) Ongoing Beta Program has started letting testers in and is already handing out build 1.0.1676.0. MSE is so far available in 39 markets.

I had a hard time installing the new beta of MSE. I hadda uninstall NIS 2010 FIRST, then install MSE. This was after a NUMBER of times attempting to do this. Finally got MSE on my WinXP and Win7 machines. Seems to be running fine SO FAR!

You're complaining WHY? You should know by now that it's not good to run more than one AV program together at same time. I had to uninstall the RTM version of MSE to install the new Beta and had no problems whatsoever. I think it's good Microsoft is forcing people to remove other AV programs while wanting to run MSE, we all know how many lazy non-tech people are out there.

I have to agree, it is a good thing MSE forces this. I have to many friends that think its good and better to run two+ antivirus programs at the same time. I end up fixing their problems in the end. :|

unless you manually edit out the drivers/other being loaded for the real time protection, then yea any other scanners offering a form of real time protection will generally interfere with each other and cause massive slowdowns/bsod etc... if you are advanced enough to know what and where to unload upon boot you can enable multiple scanners and dedicate one to realtime protection.

Again, from what I read, it was those who participated in the Windows 7 Beta Program that received the first round of invites.

Being in the old beta doesn't get you in the new beta. The old beta is pointless now and will not have any updates to it.

Being in the old beta doesn't get you in the new beta. The old beta is pointless now and will not have any updates to it.

You can't see it because you are not part of it.

I did upgrade to the final version, now i have version 1.0.1676.0 which is the latest beta version since i joined the new program.

I'm glad someone posted this. I checked me Live email and sure enough there was my invite from the 24th. I just finished uninstalling the previous final version and installing the new beta version 1.0.1676.0.
