Hello, I am wondering if somebody could help me.
I run Windows 7 on a 64-bit OS.
I run Photoshop Elements 11.
All of a sudden, yesterday, I received an error message when opening up PSE 11 that indicated the program could not start because my computer was missing the MSVCP110.dll file.
After hours of trying to figure it out, I realized I was able to bypass the error message and get into PSE 11. At that time, I realized my Nik Collection of plug-ins had vanished. I un-installed them through the control panel and re-installed them. Everything was fine then and no error message. I tested everything out and all was well.
This morning, the error message is back. Same thing – I got and see the Nik filters have again vanished. Followed the same procedure and all is well again.
I have used PSE and these Nik plug-ins for about a year now and have never had any issues with them at all. I have e-mailed Google (who own Nik) and will await them response; however, I wanted to post here to see if anyone had any suggestions about why this is happening and whether it is a Microsoft issue with the the MSVCP110.dll file or not.
Any help is appreciated and thank you.

Is the 64 bit OS a flavor of Linux? If so there may be something in the system startup scripts that is changing a link in the file system to another location. For example if /user/MyLib points to /user/mylibraries/thislibrary and the startup script was changed by some installer to /user/mylibraries/thatlibrary then all the files that were in thislibrary could seem to disappear.

If that sounds familiar search the startup scripts under /etc for the link name. See what it was changed to last.

Hello,

I have just encountered this problem today as well. As it turns out, it is Google's NIK Collection that is the culprit. (At least it is for me.)

Google ugraded the collection yesterday. When you open the software and you have an internet connection, the software will download the upgrade and update the software automatically without your knowledge or consent.

When I discovered this, this morning, I uninstalled Nik and re-installed the original version. The software worked after that. While contacting Google NIK team, the software updated itself again and is now not working!!!

I have been informed by that team that I am the only one having this issue. OBVIOUSLY NOT!! There is no way to stop the software from updating itself; which means, I now have a useless piece of software on my machine that I cannot use until Google fixes this problem.

I hope this helps.

Woke up this morning and have encountered the missing .dll
You can add me to the "the only one having this issue" list.

I have sent an Email to NIK Software at Google.

I'm having the same problem. I get the missing MSCVCP110.dll warning and have lost all my Nik software plugins from all my adobe products (ie: CS5, 6 and CC). The plugins are in their correct folders. All was working well yesterday. How do I replace this .dll file and would this restore the plug ins? I have had a Java update but I'm sure that was a couple of days ago before the loss of my Nik plug-ins. Help

That's wonderful - it has worked. I tried your suggestion of VSU3\vcredist_x64.exe which didn't work but then I downloaded the first one in the list VSU3\vcredist_x86.exe and I have my plug-ins back. Thanks for your help -I'm very grateful.

Thank goodness for this thread! I emailed Nik at Google to dissuade them from the notion that nobody is having this problem. Windows Task Manager was the only way I could end the program because the error popup message would not close. If I don't load any plugins, I am able to open CS6 and I'm going to try Mr.Julius's suggestion. As much as I like the filters, Nik plugin has always been troublesome for me!

I found a fix in another forum.
Worked for me.

GOTO:
Download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 3 from Official Microsoft Download Center

I updated with the "VSU3\vcredist_x64.exe" file.
Shut down / Restart / CS6 loaded with the Nik plugin intact and no errors.

MSVCP110.dll is now in my C:\Windows\System32 folder.

Hope this helps,
MrJulius

Thanks!!! That seemed to have worked for me!!! I hope Google will give us the option to "not" automatically update the software and perform more thorough testing!!

Kudos to Mr. Julius! His contribution saved the day for me with a load of photos to edit. His entry should be made a sticky, I'm sure there will be a lot of people looking for help on this issue.

Yes, thank goodness for this forum and for Mr.Julius's helpful input otherwise I'd be fuming by now. This was Google's response to my email: "Thank you for contacting Nik by Google. We have received your question and due to new software releases our response time is currently 1-2 business days..." Miraculously they found a smidgen of time to follow up later and instructed me to "download and reinstall the Nik Collection to your computer..." The last time I followed those instructions for a different problem it solved nothing. The second part of my question, "can I disable auto updates?" was ignored.

Hours of time wasted . . . Google should announce a new plug-in is in its way via a software update rather than just spring it on us!

If you have your download link from last March when the Nik Collection was made available use that link which will download the updated software and the new analog filter.

Depending on your firewall program, it may be possible to stop NIK Software from phoning home and auto updating in the future. Within the firewall program (example: McAfee) check your list of installed programs and their permissions, then block NIK Software from accessing the internet.

That way you can read about the update, wait for problems to arise, wait for the fix on those problems, then "allow" NIK Software to phone home for the stable update. I have done this with a few programs.

I'm having this exact same MSVCR110.DLL problem, only in Windows 8.1, with Sonar X2 and X3 64 bit version (recording studio program). The 32 bit versions of Sonar work without problems in 8.1. (The programs worked in Windows 8.0).

There hasn't been any fix, or response from Sonar support on this yet.

I just mention this as it happens to be the exact same problem, with a different program and OS.

THANK YOU! The reinstall of the VB script fixed my problem. I had tried this before from another link and for some reason it didn't work. This link worked.

I had the same issue!! one person my butt

Just adding in here if you dont know the file for Win 32bit machines is x86 and the file for Win 64bit is x64. After you hit the download button you can pick the right file for your machine. Hopefully google gets their act together but im sure that is a long shot.

Also apparently the download is a bit messed up cause it keeps giving me the "English" version in Chinese lol.... For anyone else having the same issue. Click the check box on the left then click the button with the (I) after the Chinese characters.

I am another one and enjoyed reading all the comments. I do have MSVCP110.dll and did not get that error message. However, when I open Color Efex Pro or Silver Efex Pro, I find my GPU has been disabled since it is not compatible! It is listed as one that is on the NIK website. Neither plugin works like it did before they added Analog Efex Pro. I have updated my driver as requested and sent them all the system information they requested. It has been over 2 weeks and I have gotten no solution from them yet--in fact no reply to my latest emails. I called and was told the supervisor was busy!

I have updated Windows and do not see the Visual C++ for Visual Studio 2012 listed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled from old links, but the newest version is downloaded. I tried installing as a trial and that did not work either. I had a similar problem getting NIK to work on my laptop and disabled the GPU, but I don't use that for processing so haven't worried about it. The desktop is another story. I depend on it for photo processing, especially SEP 2 for monochrome. There is no substitute. Neither program works in PS Elements of Lightroom. I haven''t gotten to use LR and always have used the NIK programs with Elements with no problems. They worked fairly fast and now are sluggish at best and are useless since the Google update.

Is the program dependent on the Visual C++ to run properly? If so why doesn't it download with NIK?

Thanks for this forum. It looks very useful.
