My monitor (Acer S240ML) has stopped showing the correct resolution of 1920x1080, it is now natively showing 1024x768. The day before it was working perfectly on that night I had plugged my PlayStation 4 into the HDMI port, then the morning after it was showing the resolution it is now. I'm not sure if it is the graphics card or the monitor causing this problem because when i plug the HDMI cable from the monitor to the motherboard (Gigabyte Z97) it does not work, however the VGA cable from the monitor to the motherboard shows the full 1920x1080. I have a Gigabyte Windforce GTX 960 that does not have a VGA port neither do I have a DisplayPort cable or a supportive monitor. I have re-installed the drivers and made sure they are the most recent for both the monitor and the graphics card with no success. Will resorting to DVI-I resolve the problem? (as I do not have a DVI cable nor tried that solution) If needed for reference I have an i7 4970K (Neither GPU or CPU are overclocked)

Will post screenshots and such if needed.

Regards, Jonah.

Hi and welcome to Sevenforums,
Yes hdmi will screw up the resolution and yes again switch to either a display port or dvi cable

hdmi is mainly I believe to go to very large displays 36" + not basic monitors 24" or lower but I would still just use hdmi to a large t.v. not to a monitor that is why display ports are becoming more mainstream or the traditional dvi or vga.
