Nowadays RAM is meant to be 2 sticks or 4, unless you have triple channel which is 3 sticks and died a horrible death, I think it was short lived with 1st gen i7's.

Go with 2 4's and toss the 2 gig, you don't need it anyway, if you did you'd want more.

What's the actual trouble now as it stands? : You hit DEL or whatever your BIOS key is and never appears? [keyboard lights work?]

Are you hitting the delete key? Do you see anything on the monitor. Do you have a GPU plugged in? Does the mobo have onboard graphic's?

I'm not hitting the delete key. I don't see anything on my monitor. I do have a GPU on the mother board, I've tried the GPU and the VGA port. And it does have integrated graphics on the motherboard. Thanks for the reply!

Your capslock light on your keyboard function when pressed after you power it up?

That monitor work fine on another system or it's power light coming on and changing at all during PC boot attempts?

Doesn't need to be I don't think. It's usually automatic.

Yes, this monitor worked on my previous build. And I'll check my keyboard lights when I get home.

Assuming (dirty word) that the keyboard is actually connected to the motherboard, when you power up and dont even get keyboard working, motherboard or PSU has died or the keyboard, swap in another keyboard... certainly prevents you from entering the BIOS now doesn't?

My money would be on the motherboard gone bad, but I had to get you to answer that keyboard lighting up or not question, that pretty much is proof of major component failure, it could be the keyboard itself, but you had OTHER issues.

Got a PSU tester to confirm that's not it?

It's not that the lights on my keyboard aren't working, it's that my keyboard does NOT contain any lights at all. However, I do have a G510 keyboard, but that's USB. USB isn't enabled until the computer is running on an operating system which enables it.

Who put out a keyboard with no indicator for capslock on, so I can send them a nasty email!!?!! :haha:

I use only USB keyboards as of, hmmmm 6 years ago? Motherboard's BIOS should tolerate it.

SO if the G51 keyboard does not work either? I would haul it to a repair shop to have them check the PSU/mobo for destruction and buy parts accordingly, if you don't have the PSU checker to eliminate or confirm.
