I have a Gigabyte motherboard that has just stopped working.
Ive tested the PSU CPU RAM etc and they are all fine and the motherboard hasnt got any life at all for some unknown reason.

the board is 11 months old and is being picked up by courier on monday and they said they will give me a refund.

so in the mean time ive been looking at new boards as the one i have GA P41-ES3G seems to of been discontinued.

My old board ran off DDR2 was Socket 775 Intel Q8400 Processor and its hard to track down boards that will take those components.

I have seen one:-
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-G41M-Combo (rev. 1.4)

It says Rev 1.4 but the ones ive seen for sale either dont say what rev or say 1.2 or 1.3
What are the differences in Rev and would it be a problem if its an older Rev i buy?

also i know i can buy a newer board but they seem to all take DDR3 and that means buying new RAM which i dont really have the money for at the moment.

many thanks

You ought to contact Gigabyte about the Rev differences if you can't find it with Google.

Rev differences can be critical or they can be insignificant. Usually, it's not a problem, but it could be in certain cases.

The Rev number is normally stated on the motherboard in fine print somewhere. If you are lucky, you might be able to find a co-operative retailer who will check--or let you peek inside the box.

Here is a list of Socket 775 motherboards, but I can't say how many of them will be OK for your processor:

Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Motherboards, Intel Motherboards, LGA 775

Yeah, that Gigabyte link in your last post is typically useless.

An eyeball scan of the 2 columns looks to me like the specs are absolutely identical.

They do that instead of using 2 or 3 ordinary sentences to explain the differences between 1.3 and 1.4. Pathetic but normal for motherboard manufacturers.

I finally got a reply and all they said was that :-
Both motherboards specification are the same. New revision is circuit diagram enhancement.

not really sure what that means though?
