Mouse Suddenly Can't Drag or Scroll

I was using the mouse (Logitech M100 - wired by USB, optical, my OS is Windows 7 - 64 bit) to resize some photos in MS Paint when it stopped working to click and drag to resize. Since then, it also has trouble scrolling up and down if there's a scroll bar on the right side of a Web page. And I can't play MS Solitaire game because it will not drag the cards.

I looked around for help and some suggest to left click on a folder, then while holding down the left, press the ESCAPE key. However, when I try to hold down the left mouse button on a folder, it opens it.

Tried re-starting - didn't help. Tried switching the control buttons and that helped, although it made it awkward to use - I'm so used to using it "normally".

Any suggestions?

Have you had a look at Mouse in Control Panel. There is an option there to change the buttons that may have occurred.

You could also try uninstalling the mouse in Device Manager, restart the computer, disconnect the mouse & reconnect it. This should load the Windows mouse driver. Sometimes the Logitech software has problems & causes mouse problems.

If neither of these help, then the mouse may be faulty, so try another one & see if that fixes it.

I tried cleaning around the clicker button. So far it seems to have helped, but I'm keeping my pixels crossed. The mouse is about 5 years old. Thanks for your response.
