I am running a Win 7 OS on an SSD and I have some programs installed on a different hard drive. And I want to move this program files folder on the same hard drive but different partition. Is it possible to do this without breaking the program links? If so, can anyone please tell me how? Thanks.

I'd install programs to the SSD to benefit from the faster speeds.

It's the data which can be moved to the HD using a method like User Folders - Change Default Location or to avoid moving System files simply copy the User folders to HD and link to related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums.

You can then uninstall and reinstall your most used Programs to the SSD.

These are secondary programs that are not part of the windows start up like photoshop, etc. Just trying not use up my SSD space a lot for other more important applications later. It's only 120GB (102 usable).

It's not only start-up speed an SSD benefits from. Programs benefit enormously from the faster SSD speeds when run.

Most users can fit their programs on that size SSD if User folders not needing the speed as badly are offloaded to HDD using a method I linked.

The other thing is that I only have 120GB and I have to install the other program to another drive. But there's actually a big improvement on my system speed even with this setup. I had this problem sorted with the help of the guys over at Win 8 forums. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it. Cheers!
