But there is also a "make image from" option for a static image as well. I have not found that option, and without it, extra thumbnail windows are of no use.

I indicated that in post 113 above:

Pick a dial, click edit, first item under the "basic" tab is "Make image from".

I apologize, I now understand it. The reason that I did not before, is because I only read #113 from my email notification, rather than the webpage, and it did not provide you entire post. The first sentence made it sound as though you didn't want to bother.

Buggy how? I have been using it heavily since release without issue. The only thing I don't like is HW font rendering, but that is in Microsoft's hands. I simply turned off HW rendering and all is well.

Same experience here from me. And font rendering has only been a problem on 1 of the 3 boxes that I typically use.

I don't understand why every last one of you are not also screaming about how HORRIBLE the new interface is! They moved everything into stupid positions that not only look bad, but slow down productivity. I refuse to use this crap until the interface is able to be restored to its original positioning. The only decent idea is a combined stop/reload button - but I still prefer to have them separate.

that looks terrible and takes up too much room, the new interface is awesome which takes up minimal space..

you can move the icons around like normal except the refresh/stop button wont change colours if you move it, they might fix it in the future..

to move your icons around go to firefox > options > toolbar layout

mozilla wont do anything because it's easily fixed

I don't like the integrated confirm boxes, my snap to option on my mouse no longer works with the browser. Nor does my photobucket uploader.

Slightly annoyed by the moving of the home button too.

Minor complaints I suppose but they are annoying me.

An update to the font issue.

Microsoft does it better in IE9. They switch GDI/DirectWrite font rendering depending on the page. So all the pages I find most problematic with DirectWrite Rendering on FF4, IE9 automatically switches to GDI rendering.

FF4 needs to do something similar or HW Acceleration stays off (and/or Microsoft needs to fix DirectWrite rendering to work better on smaller and colored fonts).

Things change over time... That sounds an awful lot like the response issued by microsoft when they forced that ribbon interface down everyone's throats (long live office 2003... or Open Office with the classic text menu system) Microsoft alienated tens of thousands of techs by removing tons of features from its Windows 7 OS - tons of things that would have taken but a few moments of their time to allow customers to CHOOSE to use or Choose to forget about..

When companies take a good product - with a proven track record - and mash it up into something that looks and functions totally different - those companies are just sucker punching all the people who loved the old system.

I have a lot of appreciation for the developers at Mozilla - but they have dropped the ball on the interface changes... They should have done as they have in the past - and stayed with working under the hood - leave the interface alone or allow people to Choose to change it if they want something other than standard...

I appreciate those of you who enjoy the 'cute look' of things like the (awful) microsoft ribbon interface - or the (horrible) look of anything apple / safari related (where you have icons only and no text) I'm interested in the original look and feel - which is why I have a new state of the art windows 7 64bit OS that has menu systems and buttons in the same positions as they were ever since windows 3.1... No reason to change the interface - I know where everything is - just make it faster... maybe add a few new features - but don't go changing the way it looks so much that its a pain to find things.


And the suggestion of using 3.6 forever is just stupid - why waste your time typing that kind of useless ignorant comment? Trying to use an out dated browser is dangerous and futile as many sites will not be compatible with old tech after a matter of months... I'm not trying to start a flame war with a stranger - just stating the obvious...

I do think there is a distinction between what you're saying here and the Firefox situation:

As a lot of others besides myself have pointed out, changing things to suit your preferences in Firefox is a matter of a few mouse-clicks.

If I had a complaint it would be the grotesque color my current theme gives me for the darkened background tab. It's the same color as something that came out of a baby who had eaten too many pureed peas. :shock:

I do not understand these complaints. First of all, it is customizable and if you want, you can make it look like FF3.6 or even like Netscape. Second, personally I actually like the "new" interface - namely, the fact that most of the bars and things can be hidden, leaving more space for the actual web pages. Finally, I don't know what you guys do for a living, but in my book web browsing does not even come close to "productivity". I am sure, that most people are in the same boat.

For the record, I have no complaints about the ribbon, I keep it hidden and I like the clean look that gives.

Now, an update about the font blurriness - it does not happen with 64-bit builds! I am using the Minefield builds on my laptop with the hardware acceleration on and I have no problems whatsoever. On my Desktop I downloaded the 32-bit official version and yes, the fonts there were blurry until I unticked the hardware acceleration option. But the 64-bit build seems to be doing just fine.

I guess I should have been more specific, it's more or less interface bugs but bugs nonetheless.

- As you've both mentioned, blurry text due to Firefox 4 new hard acceleration but this could be a driver incompatibility problem with the graphics card used (Check Intel/AMD/NVIDIA for updated driver).

- New tab button bug, I have New Tab Homepage extension installed which is FF4 compatible. I set my new tab as my Homepage which is Google search, whenver I open a new tab (Google) the cursor stays at the URL line which drives me nuts cuz I'm thinking I'm typing in Google search. This does not happen in FF3.x and IE9.

- URL cursor bug, almost the same as above. Instead when I open a new tab (Google Homepage) and left click on the URL bar the whole line is not highlighted the cursor stays at the end of the URL line. Again this does not happen with FF3.x and IE9 and I've had this happen before with FF3.x on Linux.

Be great if you guys can help my resolve my problems above.
