I have a Creative Zen X-Fi mp3 player.
When I connect it via the USB cable, Control Panel fires up, asking me what I want to do.
One of the options is to "Manage media on your device" but despite offering me the option to change the program, will not allow me to set Winamp as the default program. It only offers Windows Media Player, Picassa, and "Import pictures and videos".

Another setting is to "Change general settings", but again, it will not allow me to set Winamp as the default program.

How can I set Winamp as the default program and stop Control Panel starting up every time?

Thank you,
Chris

Winamp should automatically detect your device once you connect it IF it's already turned on, I assume you already know that.
I also assume you can always disable autoplay (if that is what you're actually getting popping up) for the device and prepare Winamp beforehand.

Connect your device and:
1. Start menu -> type into search "autoplay" and pick "autoplay" from the list of search results (usually it is the first result)
2. Scroll down to the bottom of the newly opened window and you should see your device listed under "Devices", then simply choose an action such as "do nothing" to disable autoplay.

Thank you!

Worked like a charm!
I've been happily managing my music with Winamp for a long time, it's just annoying having things like Control Panel starting up unnecessarily.
I've learned something new today, thank you again!

Cheers
Chris
