Hi guys

This is odd, MS Word has always been solid but for the past few weeks it keeps having 'MS Word stopped working' crashes and restarts.

Generates the following error:

Faulting application name: WINWORD.EXE, version: 15.0.5101.1000, time stamp: 0x5c10eca0
Faulting module name: msspell7.dll_unloaded, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x55f7f0ed
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x5d937a7c
Faulting process id: 0x165c
Faulting application start time: 0x01d55f6e200e39f8
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\WINWORD.EXE
Faulting module path: msspell7.dll
Report Id: 648005c2-cb61-11e9-a7a4-74d435864ce8

I am seeing one or two other crashes with Corel Video studio X10 as well.

Have run check disc etc and scannow.

Thanks

Mike

Hello mikesndbs

How many RAM sticks do you have? Your computer may be having RAM issues. You can test the computer's RAM with Memtest86+| Seven Forums. You will need a blank USB stick or CD to do the test. Instructions are in the Tutorial link.

Hi mikesndbs,

This is odd, MS Word has always been solid but for the past few weeks it keeps having 'MS Word stopped working' crashes and restarts.

Have you opened Word and run the Repair option?

Hi, and really sorry for the delayed response, I have been away.
OK, here is what has been happening.
Ram test all passed.
I ran the repair Office application which resulted in it deleting Office and then being unable to install the replacement!
I spent ages but eventually managed to download and install Office but could only find the 32bit version where as i had been using 64 bit.
No big deal as far as I can tell.

The crashes from Word continue.
They appear to be when a Word document is opened from a short cut or via Wods recent files list or when i try to open a Word document within MS Outlook.
The work around is to direct open but this is not great.

I am now seeing multiple other crashes in other applications, such as Corel Video Studio X10, MS Money and others.
Virus and malware scans are taken care of with Malwarebytes and Bitdefender.

Not sure what is going on?
