MSCONFIG not showing all the processors after Windows Update

Hey everyone! new at this forum, looks like a cool place.

So, last night, my pc ran the windows update at shutdown and then this morning when I turned it on and checked msconfig, it only showed one processor at boot, but since I bought it and up until yesterday (cause I checked yesterday) It showed two processors. should I be worried about this? is there a way for me to bring it back to its former state? Please help!

That "number of processors" box should normally be left unchecked.

And what do I do about the second processor suddenly not appearing. Is it normal? Should I or can I do something about it?

Are you suffering performance issues?

Looks to me like you've got a 2011 era processor, which happens to have 2 cores and supports hyperthreading.

As far as I know, nothing is wrong, and that box should be unchecked.

Possibly it had been erroneously checked before.

I've got a single processor with 4 cores and it shows 4 entries under Device Manager, just like yours.

I was having some performance issues but I'm not sure it's related to that, I just thought it was weird that it was the first time in 2 years+ that the 2nd processor wasn't in that dropdown. I guess it's all good then?
