On a couple of occasion recently after booting up there is a flag that MSE is turned off. I use MSE and Windows firewall as my protection with no other programs installed. Why would MSE be turned off if I did not do it?

just a guess, but it may have something to do with Windows Defender running simultaneously. It seems I recall something about disabling or setting windows defender to manual, when I downloaded MSE.

MSE disables Defender when it is turned on.(as I understand many of Defenders actions are included in MSE) My Defender is off. Also According to Msoft it is not in beta anymore. Full release.

Seems that no one knows for sure. So, I will take my guess. Can it be a Virus?

hi !

the same thing happened several times for me too, using MSE-beta.
it has also happened a few times even now with MSE-final, last time was on saturday.
i have no idea why this is happening, my guess is that the "turnoff-bug" still is present...

it has nothing to do with Windows firewall (WF) or defender, i have not used WF for months.
defender is disabled by MSE since it has a "built-in" defender.

btw, a tip: get Comodo´s firewall instead, it´s the BEST firewall and it´s FREE...
but a warning, don´t install the "hopsurf-toolbar" !
it´s prechecked during installation, so make sure you turn it off, because it´s considered a security risk by experts.
