This error report keeps popping up when I try to open WebCT (an online education program used at my university). Any idea how to replace this .dll file and how it was removed in the first place?

Was it working before and stopped? Or did it nor work the first time you used it?

That file is supposed to be installed by any piece fo software that needs it. If it didn;t install the file then that's sort of a bug in the program. If the file WAS there (program was working) and is now missing, that's something else entirely...

The file can be hand installed with some evffort, or you can try re-installing the sofwtyare that needs it if it was working before.

It was working before, yes, but since I've been off school for the summer I'm not sure what it might have been that triggered this. There wasn't any software related to this that I installed or uninstalled. The same problem comes up with three different internet browsers. :/ How can I manually reinstall it?

Well it is the case that multiple programs use that file but windows knows when more than one program is using the file and will usualy not uninstall a shared resrouce. But there are always ways of messing up that mechanism if developers try hard enough I guess.

Can you just reinstall the school software? That would be best.

Otherwise you can google "Missing MSVCR71.dll" And find tons of help. THere's no one site I can personally recomend for getting that file (ther than from Microsoft if they have it for DL). Just be a bit careful and get it from a reputable sounding place and virus check it before installing it.
