Multiple BSODs, no idea what to do.

Hello, I recently got a laptop off of ebay (big mistake). It at first seemed to be fine, but all of a sudden it started experiencing endless BSODs. The computer will start up fine, run normally, and then BSOD unexpectedly.

Sometimes I will be playing league of legends for hours, and it wont crash, other times it will crash on the loading screen. A lot of times it crashes if im just browsing the internet on firefox, or downloading something.

I did a check with memtest86 to see if its a RAM issue, but it came up with no errors.

Even still, I took out one stick to see if I get any BSODs, but I got no BSODs. It did freeze randomly (no BSOD), but I assume thats because the computer was running on 2 gb instead of 4? I cant be sure.

I will attach the most recent mini dump. I believe they are all the same. I have been checking them with a program called whocrashed, but im not sure how to interpret what its actually telling me.

Hopefully someone can help.

The laptop is:
Lenovo Y560
Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
i5 450m processor
4 gb ram
HD Radeon 5730 graphics

Hi angermngment101 welcome to SF :)

All your minidumps points to faulty hardware propably CPU.

Please follow these steps in this order,

First,Shut Down the laptop, then use some air spray and clean the cpu fan and always keep the <<breathing>> area clean and free.

Check system and cpu temperatures in bios and post them here.

Uninstall and clean Avast from your system using the http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear5.exe

Download and install mse
Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

Enable windows firewall.

Update your Lenovo Display drivers.

Is also a good idea to always keep updating your laptop, drivers, chipset, bios, everything.
---------------------------
Finish with the above steps and post back with ANY results.

I sent the laptop back to the manufacturer for repairs. But out of curiosity, why clean avast from my system?

Did they tell what was wrong?

When you will have back the laptop please post back here what exactly was the problem.

About avast,

Avast in some cases creates crash\bsod in windows 7.

In some cases i analyze bsod\minidumps and the bsod source was avast.

Thats why my advice to you was to clean avast from your system. :)

While trying to find out how to reach the Bios, I found a thread on the lenovo forums saying that the updated bios was causing the laptop to overheat. So I attempted to revert my bios using the backup, and it blue screened during the flashing process. It no longer powered on after that. So I called lenovo, and luckily the laptop is still under warranty, so they are fixing it for free.

Would you recommend AVG instead of avast? I have always used avast on Vista with no problems. I have no experience with this microsoft security essentials program. Is it good as an anti-virus?

No AVG is not recommended, avg is one of the worst a.v.

Mse is simple,lightweight,and reliable,give it a try.

If at the end you dont like the mse ,then between avg and avast (if you never had\have any problems with avast) you must choose avast.
