Multiple explorer.exe listed in task manager

Looked in the task manager today and noticed 4 separate entries for explorer.exe / windows explorer. Is this normal? Or does it indicate a problem? Windows 7 32 bit system.

Hello SRB, and welcome to Seven Forums.

This is normal when new explorer windows open as a separate process. When they are closed, the extra explorer.exe process should end as well in Task Manager a few moments later.

Brink - Thanks. I popped open 4-5 Windows Explorers and noticed that the multiple entries were back. And as you say, once I closed them the extra processes went away. Now only 2 remain.

You're welcome Steve. It's Windows 7 way of helping to make sure that if one of those explorer window crashes for whatever reason, the other ones will still be working.
