Multiple VPN connections To the Same Computer

Hi, Please can someone help me.

I'm need to set up a VPN for a friend, he is starting his own business.
right now I am using my Computer as a test server


I have managed to have his client computer connect to my "VPN server" and he is able to browse my LAN network, Shared folders, I CAN Map a network drive. everything seems Good.

My only problem is, I need to have multiple connections to my "The Server", The Goal is to have 5 Computers, all on the same VPN - Using 1 shared drive, which will be a Folder on the server.

The Issue comes, when I use Client-PC1 to connect to my computer, it works and its fine, Then I try to Connect Client-PC2 to the same VPN, using a Different username and password. at this point I get the:

Error 937: Because another connection of your type is in use, The incoming connection cannot accept your connection request.

I just need to know what's wrong here, so far from what I can see from google, I either need to get a new router that supports VPN....Something about more than 1 tunnel,

or... Some forums have said mentioned if i use Windows Server (2003 or 2008), it should let me run more then 1 VPN client at a time.

Right now I am using a PPTP instead of a Ipsec or L2tp connection as I dont know how to set up a certificate.

Any Luck ?

I know Vista only allows one VPN connection at a time using the built in server. I was hoping 7 did better than this, but maybe not. That's why I'm here as well.

From what I have read about this, Windows Server 2003 web edition only allows one incoming VPN connection.

I imagine that this would also be true when using your Win 7 machine as the server. The solution is to upgrade to Standard edition of Windows Server 2003 which has a limit of 1000 connections.

Shrew just came out with a beta VPN client that might be worth trying.

You can also use the Cisco VPN client but it needs to run in XP mode.

YAY!!!

OK well, the solution was what chev65 stated...after a little talk with microsoft, it seams only the sever sides of windows support more than ONE VPN connectionSo the answer was simple....Acid went and got him self a copy of Windows Server 2008 R2 - and...YAY!! The Multiple Concurrent VPN worksI had a Maximum of 3 VPN clients, Connected to my Computer Running Windows Server 2008.. All of them could browes the Severs Files, I was able to asign "static" Ip's to the Clients, The Servers IP stayed the same, so with that In mind, I was able to then MAP a network Drive, which was a shared folder on my Computer. ---so one of the answers of Multiple, VPNS (all connected at the same time)..is basically to get Server Software (Windows server 2003, 2008)..if you get the Enterprise or Standard editions..they should be fine.Damn the next Sod who reads this and gets it working....

No doubt that Server 08 is the best solution but costs the most. The new shrew beta would allow more connections if running a Win 7 VPN but it's still in the beta stage and is a bit unstable from what I have read about it. The Cisco VPN would work also but needs to be run in XP mode. Glad you got it up and running. I'll mark as solved.

I read somewhere about VPN's as i have been trying to do the same. Allow multiple connections to windows 7 VPN. If the office end has a router which you can flash some DD-WRT firmware onto it the new software has a VPN tab allowing the router to connect to the remote VPN, Anything then connected to the router is now a member of the network at the remote location. I cannot guarantee this works as i am yet to test this out.

Should do ... it is known as a remote site-to-site VPN connection where traffic is routed through the VPN whenever necessary and is encrypted.

   Note

In static Site-To-Site VPN connections you need to have static IP addresses on both sides. Dynamic addresses will not work unless you deploy a DMVPN (Dynamic Multi-Point Virtual Private Network) solution where dynamic addresses could be used

Multiple connections

If you are asking you can connect multiple vpn on single computer so answer is yes. I am also using 3 vpn tools right now and i am not facing any issue. Well may be you can face issues because of vpn provider so here i will suggest you to choose good provider from here vpnranks.
