Solved MY Computer Knows When I go to Walk Away?

Try sitting at the computer. Don't get up and wiggle all cables one by one and see if you hear the sound again.

Is this the sound a USB device makes if plugged or unplugged? If so determine which one is doing it by process of elimination, and then determine how it can be affected by your movement.

the house we are in was built in 1908 so it does shake with every step, so it might just be the moving motion making one of the USD cables wiggle

Would you please reply to the steps I gave you there?

Or it could be a power-saving feature of a wireless device you have.

wiggling the cables while i sit there didn't do anything, but i have noticed that it does have i direct correlation to the chair rebounding from being sat in. My wife and I have the same chairs so it has to be something involving the chair's rebound shacking something to cause the sound but it does occasionally make the the reconnect tone hen my wife gets back in her chair.

All I can think of is someone is pranking you, or you are pranking us. There is no logical physical electronic reason this would happen.

that is pretty much why i came here, nothing makes sense as to why it is doing, that is why i came here to see if there might have been something that i over looked. my best guess would have been one of the input devices wiggling when i get up but nothing physically moves. the weirdest part is that it does it to both of our computers. it doesn't really bother me that it does it but since i haven't encountered anyone say that their computer does that i figured i would try and look into it.

Do you happen to have a hub that might need power to it ?
Also is your Mouse powering off after not being touched it might be the mouse cutting connection after use

I would pull all the usb cables and apply them one by one till it does it also if you have something plugged in like a 360 controller or maybe a dead tablet to plug in it also makes a constant trying to connect sound

If you have the rebound overclocked you could reduce it and see if that helps or try another chair to see if you still have the same issue?

everything you unplug will make the noise when it is reconnected, how would this help? I have disconnected and reconnected everything that is connected and have not come across anything that makes sense to be the source of the problem. it isn't the key board, the mouse, the printer, or the speakers.

I have done the normal practical before I came here to see what this forum thought i could be. so far all i have received are the practical things (that i have done again), skeptics telling me that I am messing with them, and now someone that assumes I am ignoring the practical when I only wished for a possible explanation as to why two separate and different computers that have only 4 things in common, 1 in the same house on the same wall, 2 same cheap desk, 3 same used chair, 4 they both have Intel i5 processors.

If there is no explanation then there is no explanation, this was originally meant as an inquiry, the sound does not affect anything other than seeming as the computer is acknowledging the user's departure from the input/output interface of the computer.

I should have made the process clearer:

If all USB devices make the same sound when plugged/unplugged as when you get up to leave the PC, then unplug each USB device one at a time before you get up to see which one causes no noise to be made when you get up. That will be the culprit, and you can replace, reseat, remove, or ride it around the house like a horsey.

First of all, I haven't got any logical answer to this horror story at all.

These forums sometimes scare the hell out of me, I seriously had goosebumps after I read the entire thread. Happens to both systems, machines acting so creepy, house built in 1908, OMG, stop this discussion please, that house is haunted for sure.

no known deaths have taken place at this house so the odds are that it isn't haunted, but the wiring is sub par and may have something to do with it but i would have expected brown out or circuit breaker trips from that. still have to get back to rechecking the one by one USB port as gregrocker said to try.

It's called process of elimination if you had any tablet's phone's or any other devices using the PC USB try them all one by one with the Devices attached any game controllers you had used as well and Hubs could be a bad hub port but doing it one by one will register a device to act up and keep installing uninstalling

then you will be able to determine if the device is faulty the line or the hub or what ever else is going on also could be the direct port or some weird issue a motherboard bios can fix perhaps you have to look at all angles and facts /Keyboards bad Mouse's the list can be steep when it comes to funny USB ports

also would be a good idea to crack your case open and give it a once over could be loose USB cables inside to the motherboard you have to think outside of the box sometimes it could be even the wire is making contact with something only when you make a disturbance that happen to be when you are in the chair and get up could be a series of things just try some of the suggestions could be something very simple too

All seriousness aside, my new rig will make occasionally the disconnect sound when I touch the case and get a slight static discharge. The computer case is grounded so it's not going to hurt things but, until I made the connection, it was starting to make me think it was a puka or was infested with leprechauns. It's still a bit disconcerting when I make a bio break run in the middle of the night, lightly brush against the computer as I waddle by (you try walking straight with your legs crossed!), and hear the sound while in a semi-conscious state.

I figured it out, it was a USB expansion port that came with the desks. I figured it out when my wife used hers as an extension cable to connect to the printer and it started rapidly disconnecting and reconnecting. I disconnected mine and it hasn't made a noise since. appears that it was just the cheap USB expansion port itself and not the connection to the computer.
