My computer won't go to a specific web site.

I hope this is the best section to post this. I cannot go to The World's Most Advanced Business Jet Aircraft - Gulfstream with my desktop computer. My laptop will access it (its on same wireless network) and my wife's machine can access it (same network but not wireless). I've tried checking my host file, turning firewall off, using ie8 as well as firefox, safe mode with networking. turning ad blockers off. I have no idea what would be blocking it. The machine is set up pretty similar to my laptop, yet it won't get to the site like my laptop. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

UPDATE: This is strange. If I enable proxy through TOR, I have no problem getting to the website. If Proxy is disabled, I can't get there. Its almost like my ISP is blocking it but it works fine on my laptop. Can't figure this out.

When you disable your proxy, can you ping the website through command prompt?

Avast. Wierd thing is its the same on my laptop, but it connects fine.

Yeah I'm really thinking it has something to do with your antivirus. You might try uninstalling it and seeing if you can go to the page and then reinstalling it. I have had to do it before with AVG.

I use Avast! and have no problems accessing the site.

Uninstalled Avast and rebooted. No change. But it was a good excuse to install the new Avast 6 beta!

Sometimes changing your dns servers to opendns will help get to those websites without any problem....

Thats the funny part. I've always used OpenDNS. I've tried changing back to Comcasts DNS servers and I've tried Comodo's DNS servers. Nothing seems to help except if I proxy through TOR.

Most likely they block Pings to avoid falling victim to DOS attacks

Try the following for me: put in the browsers URL

The World's Most Advanced Business Jet Aircraft - Gulfstream
see if that works.
Maybe theres a bug in your DNS processing.

I tried both their primary and secondary URL's as gleaned from a WHOIS lookup. I get the same results. Its strange that my laptop gets there fine but not my desktop. But from this thread, it looks like there are a few others that can't view the site either. Not sure I have the patience to figure this one out!
