My display dies when I boot

Hi everyone,

I am actually a mac user having trouble with windows 7 (home premium I believe) installed using bootcamp. I have been using it to play some games over the past 6 months (and yes, even though it's a macbook I can run skyrim fine on ultra graphics ).

However, recently when I start it up, right before the login screen my display dies, and nothing seems to respond. The only reason I know it hasn't shut off is because it won't restart until I hold my power button to turn it off, then press it again to start up my computer. I can start it in safe mode but I don't really know what to do to amend this issue.

I'm pretty unfamiliar with windows for the most part so I'm not really sure what to do to fix the issue short of reinstalling everything. I really don't want to do this however as it took me some time to install all the various mods for skyrim in the correct order (I feel like it's in a very delicate balance, but that could just be me).

I should probably also add that my mac side works perfectly fine, so I don't think it's a hardware thing.

Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Try a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html point. It is possible to do it before windows loads and in safe mode as well.

Since you are on a mac, it makes things slightly different.

When did the problem start? Anything change on the system when the problem began?

Oh yes I actually tried a system restore but it restarted my computer and the same thing happened, ie. the display died (I might give it another go now).

And come to think of it, I think it started after I plugged in an external drive I use to store games. That is it was plugged in and powered on before I started windows up, so could it have tried to boot from that drive or could that have somehow caused issues?
