My dvd drive won't work?

i have a TS-L633A SCSI dvd drive.
when i insert a cd or dvd its won't read it. it will eject it and say to insert a cd. what is the problem.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall, i have tried removing the upper and lower filters.
what is the problem?

hi brandon, i guess your dvd drive firmware needs to be upgraded.
if you are facing this issue since recently, try a system restore.

and this started when about a week or 2 ago.

Sometimes these drives just die. Don't forget that. It's possible that it's just crapped out and replacement might be the only option.

Also, have you adjusted BIOS settings for it? My DVD drive functions very differently under AHCI/Raid and "Native IDE" modes.

the firmware said that it is not compatible with the selected drive.

ok well i kinda suck at computers so can u explain how i can do that.
and well i got this laptop about a month ago.

If you don't know where to find the BIOS options, it's highly unlikely you would have changed a setting that would be causing problem For future reference though, you can access the BIOS by pressing a key when you first turn it on. On my computer it is the delete key, and it can be many others (F1, F2, F5, F10, Enter are a few other examples I've seen)

Any chance it is still under warranty? If so try to get it replaced Sounding like it might be dead.

If the computer is just a month old, its definitely under warranty. So call the manufacturer and seek a replacement.
