My first solid state.

I do not use Driver Detective if that is what it is, but i suggest looking in device manager to see what is missing.
AHCI is automatically set by windows to match the BIOS
I wish you a lot of fun with your new drive :)

I have also used Fedora, Suse, Ubuntu Linux
And all other Windows from 95 to date except ME
What I would do is shut down the PC, and unplug all other HDs.
Install the SSD, and plug it into the very first SATA Port.

Start up, go into the bios, and change to AHCI mode.
Install Windows.

Once your up and running, you can shut down again and hook up all the other drives, and format/partition however you choose to do.

Once in Windows, if you run the WEI and then reboot the machine, it will make appropriate adjustments after that first run.
(disbale Defrag on the SSD, as well as Prefetch)

This is all you need to do.
I wouldn't do any tweaks to it other than maybe disabling Hiberfile if you do not use Hibernate to free up some space.

nice simple sound advice, i use this method when installing linux distros on my ssd drives :D

Hi Panais, I have a Gigabyte board too, and it always says no drives found on reboots. It must be some stupid way their BIOS works.
I think it is telling us we have no drive in a RAID configuration.

Go to device manager, if you have this AHCI is enabled

Do you have your drive connected to the first SATA plug?

Hi Panais,
I think it is telling us we have no drive in a RAID configuration.
This makes sense .......... A wrong setting maybe?

I think you have a Jmicron controller on your mobo as well...and you likely don't have any hard drives plugged into it...thus it's reporting that it's not finding any. If that is the case, I would go into BIOS and disable the Jmicron controller if you are not using it.

I think it is the SATA RAID/AHCI mode this may be only for RAID notice you have the setting twice. It is certainly very confusing the way it is done, what other options do you have for this?
To clarify I think this setting is wrong

Do you see anything bad?

Before the ssd installation i enable that in the red circle.

Now i enable that in blue.

I think i made something wrong!

In the top part of your screenshot, you are setting the AHCI settings and such for the Intel ICH9R southbridge controllers.

The second AHCI settings is for the secondary controller on your motherboard. I'm betting you have nothing plugged into either of these ports and hence the reason it says it finds nothing. You should be able to change it from AHCI to disabled, and get rid of that message at boot.

I'd think you are plugged into the block of 4 ports and that's the Intel Controller and then one that I would use. If you have nothing in the other 2, I would set that to Disabled.

The first line in the screen shot "SATA RAID/AHCI Mode" has to show ENABELED not Disabled as it shows now..

And the line that says onboard SATA/IDE Contr can likely be set to disabled. -- I believe this is the one that is throwing the error.

Make sure AHCI is turned on in Bios.

If it is then make sure AHCI is turned on in Windows.
This is Barefoot Kids tutorial.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/61869-ahci-enable-windows-7-vista.html?filter

All the proper settings for Windows are shown in the tutorial.

Do you see anything bad?

If i understand well i must enable the first anci and disable the ninth?

(I really sorry guys i never had ssd before or anci or raid)

If i understand well i must enable the first anci and disable the ninth?

(I really sorry guys i never had ssd before or anci or raid)

Whether or not you enable one and disable the other depends upon how many devices you have plugged into your motherboard. In your mobo, that first option sets ports 0 through 3. If you had other devices plugged into the other 2 ports, you would need those ports enabled as well.

Setting to AHCI usually gives you more performance, at least it benchmarks better.

So, if you have 4 or less SATA devices connected, you should be able to disable the onboard option and it should eliminate that error you see.

So, disable the onboard controller then, and I bet your error goes away at startup. You have 4 devices and they are all running on the Intel controllers.
