My Graphic card is not detected instantly ..!!

My problem is my graphic card being undetected instantly .
I ve been playing a lot of games without having any trouble with my graphic card . Last thing I remember is I was playing Deus Ex Human Revolution and i did finish it .
Some days after that while attempting to boot my pc it struggled the first 2 times ( my CPU lights have gone in 2 seconds ) then it boots successfully in the third time. My Monitor was turned on but no display .. First I think the problem might be in the VGA cable but it is not coz when i unplugged it and plug it in the default pin in the CPU, the monitor shows display .. So definitely the problem is with the graphic card . I dust cleaned it and insert it again , no breakthrough but the fan in the card is rotating . I figured that there is a mild problem in my SMPS . I ve red in an article that problems in the SMPS will affect the power supply to the video card . So the real problem is the SMPS ???? or the Graphic card ???

Pls assist me through this ...


Here's a complete Spec. of my pc ..

Dell Inspiron ( nothing s changed )
3GB RAM
300GB Hard disk
nvidia 8400GS 512MB video card

Have you tried a different card? Do you have a friend you could borrow a card from to see which is the culprit?

Just to be clear, did you unplug your computer when you took the card out?

^ Unfortunately this is really the only definitive way to rule out either the card or Power Supply being at fault.

Yes, that or getting another PSU to see if it still behaves the same. Either one will give nearly definitive results.

Yes i did unplug my pc n i dont ve such friends so that i could borrow ....
