remember AGES back... i told you the i7 would be the best/fastest for a long time. but still too expensive! is an i5 faster tho?

ehhhhh i5 is about the same... sometimes faster sometimes slower all depends

Just so I get this straight, and yes I am on a couple of OC forums, but generally speaking, if I change nothing else BUT continue to increase the CPU's clock, am I unleashing more juice from my video card?

in general the higher CPU frequency allows for greater data throughput from CPU to chipset, which = a faster throughput from CPU/chipset to GPU.

as you can see from the benches i listed, i bottleneck quite badly with this card & my chip is not that slow.

Well I guess I gotta choose now whether to go with i7 or go from my Phenom II 940 to a 965. Bear in mind that my 940 is AM2+ (not AM3) so whichever way you slice it, it will have to be a new mobo, cpu, and DDR3 ram.

lol....im in the same boat if i wanna go further, as of this moment its ok...performance is good, its only benches that show the bottleneck.

so i'll start collecting components mid 2010 i reckon, by then we should have pricing on the 6 core Gulftown.

(& i should be able to grab a cheap 5770 for TriFire)
