MY HDD won't let me install Windows on it!

Hey guys. I have a weird problem here.

My old HDD got slower, so I bought a new one. Thing is, whenevr I'm trying to install WIndows in it, it just won't work.

it shows me the Error code: 0x80300024. I found some solutions to this error, I did all of them. nothing happened. I unplugged all other SATA devices, and I still get this error.

Also, Format, Extend, and other options except "New" cannot be clicked..

Sometimes it says that my HDD isn't recognised by BIOS or something like that, but when i get to BIOS, its there.

Please help me. Im desperate.

Has this new drive ever functioned at all?
What brand is it?
Most manufacturers provide testing software on their website under support for testing the drive.
If it's giving issues with the bios it may be a dud.

Its a brand new HDD. I bought it 3 days ago. Never used.

WD is the brand.

On Windows installation wizard, it sees the driver so i assume its not broken

tech parts arrive doa all the time man, it's at least worth checking out.
The odds here are actually in the windows installer favor.
As it installs on millions of drives every year without problem.

It is nearly impossible to help you without some system specs (how old is this system?) and the model number (or a least the size) of the hard drive.

To test to see if the drive is DOA, install it in your computer along with the old hard drive (and OS) and then go to disk management and see if it is recognized and if you can create a small partition on it and format it NTFS. (Delete the partition after the test).

Thing is...When I connect both of the drivers...the screen won't pass BIOS.

And for some reason its VERY slow when i have both of them on, but this is the fault of the new driver.

Maybe i should just take it back...it causes enough probs already..

If it's causing bios issues I would go ahead and just return it.
IF the bios has issues with it, odds are you're going to have a ridiculous amount of trouble trying to get windows on it, if you ever can at all.
BIOS represents hardware identification, it's built into the motherboard. If this simple machine code check can't figure out what to do with it. I would consider that
1 - a bios update may be in order
2 - the drive has issues.

Well i heard something abouyt Disk controller activation..

I don't know how to do that in my BIOS, looked everywhere...

If the PC was fine before trying to introduce this HDD it's the drive...
Return it for a replacement.

And what size is the drive? Some motherboards can only work with so much hard drive capacity, and yours might not support the capacity your new HDD has.

My old one was 1.5 TB and the new one is 1 TB.

Well i have Phoenix AwardBios...I read somewhere that controller of the HDD might not be on...And change from IDE to AHCPI?

Where can i enable that in this bios? I looked it up and theres nowhere!

In older Phoenix BIOS settings the option is on the Integrated Peripherals tab > SATA Mode

Sometimes named "Onchip SATA Type"

All you probably need to do is Format 'NTFS' your drive

On the other hand - it is quite rude of you to ignore repeated calls to stick your hardware down - if you want help

Hey Neo, im sorry i was just stressed.

Problem is solved, i wnt back to my hardware store, returned the driver, got a new one and everything is okay.
