My laptop won't hibernate

So in sum, when Hibernate fails to run and all other checklist items mentioned earlier are exhausted, Rebuild the BCD? Or is there an earlier indicator that might jump out?

Yes, that's what I've done. Another funny issue is whether the system reserve partition (SR) is Hidden, believe it or not. I had a really hard time square rooting a similar problem with the very machine I'm on now, until I discovered that with partitions, Hidden is not the same as unlettered, though they look that way to the naked eye from within Windows. I was doing something with EaseUS partition master, and changed the SR flags. Only when I went back in with Partition Wizard did I see the difference between Hidden and unlettered. When I unhid my SR partition, but kept it unlettered (so it stayed invisible), my hibernation started working. I think the correct status of the SR partition depends on the puter maker, though I'm not sure. But however it is set up, evidently Windows wants it to stay that way. Something to keep in mind. :)
