Hello...

First of all I found many threads like this but I really don't know what to do :(

I somehow got my 2 PCs out of homegroup and put them in another one...
But problem is in my laptop (3rd pc) which just wont leave the homegroup...
Something like: Windows couldn't remove your computer from the homegroup..

I tried something with services but I really didn't get that.

Thank you...

I will show you the more direct approach to fixing the problem here. This is another Windows 7 bug apparently so you need to delate a file to fix it.

The fix for this problem seems to be Deleting the file idstore.sst under C:\windows\serviceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking

Once everything at peer Networking Grouping is running you may also need to do this...

Start the Task Manager
Click on the service Tab
Find the "HomeGroupProvider"
and then stop the service.

You may need to go back into services and enable Peernetworking again after the fix. Don't forget to restart all machines making the adjustments.

Yes that usually does the trick for this particular problem. The service should restart when you do but check to make sure.

I did exactly the same... I deleted that file, stopped the service, restarted, checked service (it was enabled again), went to homegroup, leave and error again :(

Maybe you can find more info in this thread.

Mr. Grim said this worked for him.

Once everything peer Networking Grouping is running all you have to do is this

start the Task Manager
Click on the service Tab
Find the "HomeGroupProvider"
AND STOP IT!!!!

Once you stop it... try to leave the homegroup...... worked for me!!!!

Try this method.

How I fixed the problem

Go to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking and delete all of the files in this folder. Now restart the computer.

Go to Services again and you should be able to start 'Peer Networking Grouping' and 'Peer Name Resolution Protocol'. Restart the computer again.

When you log on this time, check the event log again, to ensure no errors concerning the two services are present and also check Services to ensure the two services concerned are running.

You should now have full functionality restored to your homegroup.'

I certainly hope that works for you because I don't know any other way to fix this problem. The advice I gave has already worked countless times to fix this problem.
