Hey all! I just recently went from XP to 7. I have a desktop with Pro and a netbook with Ultimate. I came here back when I first got the two pcs and had a lot of questions and got priceless info. After research and experimentation this is what I settled on.

I purchased a 500G external drive. I purchased special deals on Acronis and Norton Ghost, along with the free version of Easus.

I ran an initial full backup with Acronis and do daily backups of changed info setup with a maximum number on the external

I ran an initial full backup with Ghost and backups 3 times a week setup to keep a maximum number on the external.

I do daily backups on just the documents and any backup files that I have on certain programs with Easus.

(I had an 8 year old XP Dell finally bite the dust and had to pay a tech to get the info from the drive to an external. Was fortunate to salvage 90% but don't want that to happen again!!)

Thanks to everyone for all the input and suggestions!

Jack

Good to hear you are now protected. Too bad it took such a painful experience to get you started with backups.
