Hi, I am looking for the 32-bit version of CARDFILE.EXE. I still use this application, but only have the 16-bit version. It is no longer supported in Windows 7 64-bit.

The 32-bit version of CARDFILE.EXE was included with Windows NT:
"32-bit - File size: 101,008 bytes; Date stamp: 05-25-95; Confirmed in: Windows NT 3.10, 3.50, 3.51 (diskette and CD-ROM)"

I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have this file and the associated CARDFILE.HLP?

Thanks.

His post was over six months old I am pretty sure he will never visit here to check. Have you googled it?

I've checked it out and there is no such file available publicly. The best alternative I found was a third-party tool that essentially provides similar functionality: AZZ Cardfile - replacement for MS Windows cardfile.exe.

Apart from that, the only way to obtain this file would most likely be to obtain a copy of Windows NT 3.5 and take this file out of it but even then, I doubt it would actually work as this is an ancient program by this point. XP Mode or DOSBox are also alternatives to this.

Thanks ZigZag and Darician, Yes, I can't find it. I am searching for an old Windows NT disk, though I don't quite catch why you think it wouldn't work. Not sure what DOSBOX is. May end up w/ AZZ, but I suspect that the 32-bit version on Windows NT will work better. More native, more original. Why am I wrong?

Yes, I did find it but it wasn't easy. IIRC, I eventually googled on the filesize and that worked.

I found it today at:
internetvail.com - /files/
It works on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Apparently the cardfile.hlp is no longer needed as I only downloaded the exe and it worked. The .zip is the same thing just zipped up.

I'm so sick and tired of trying to duplicate my old electronic rolodex(TM) to the clunky and hard to integrate MS Outlook contacts system. As a result of my frustration, I bit the bullet and downloaded (and paid for) the AZZ Cardfile app., v.4.1*. The developer is based in Vilnius, but there's a US-based secure site for CC transactions. I'll try to remember to post here with my results.

azzCardfile review

azzCardfile is a godsend (OK maybe that's an exaggeration). It takes a while to get used to the interface and minimal limitations, but v 4.1 is easily worth $29 if you have more than 25 contacts locked up in *.crd files you can't use! The folders feature is nice. It even has spell check with seveal languages available. Defintely a quantum leap upwards from the MS Cardfile "rolodex."

I want to travel to Vilnius and buy Antanas Zdramys a beer! Where's the emoticon raising a pint mug? :sarc:

[see previous post for locating the download site].

For those still fighting with opening ancient Cardfile CRD files I found a commandline utility called Deark which lets you extract texts and objects out of these file Deark

Or there is a nice online cardfile-like application called Cardfile.it which can also open CRD files Cardfile.it
