I am most interested in overclocking my CPU which is currently running at the stock 3.4GHz. I would like to get it in the range of 4GHz if possible. My main problem is that I am a complete noob and have no idea how to go about this. I'm afraid that I will do something retarded and screw up my PC. Any help, advice or comments are most welcome.
Thanks
spooky

I would look into a better air or sealed water cooling solution before challenging your rig with any serious overclocking. If you are looking for a very modest overclock then monitoring system temps while torture testing for stable overclock would be my suggestion.
I'm running a NZXT Kraken X60 and it's what I would suggest and it would slip in your case like a dream !
You're running some very strong kit and only the cooling is weak. Once that's done then you should see 4.0 with ease and likely somewhat higher and still hold great temps.

Use the EZ mode in BIOS and click on the High Performance icon, the clock with the flames. This should do it all for you to clock about 4.2GHz. I don't recommend doing any stressing with a stock cooler though.

Yes and that's a good choice but the extra capacity of the 280 rad would be a custom fit in the case you have. With that rad or the X60 you could see OC'g to 4.2-4.5 potentially maybe more if you have a good chip and mobo?

yeah the h100 might get you to 5ghz if you have a golden chip and remember don't be afraid to give it some volts ad by some i mean bump it to 1.35v what is your motherboard this is overkill but it might be an idea to get a z87x oc

thanks to my bestfriend for supplying the parts for the upgrade will never forget
I can tell you right now Haswell has been hard to overclock and keep stable 4.2 is usually the max for some and I have seen others get it to 4.8 but it took so much tuning and trial and error

I still don't think these guys have it perfected yet given that the others already spoke to you about using a closed loop you need to do tons of reading on your CPU

They are very hard to control after going to higher clock performance Haswell Overclocking Thread [With Statistics]

This should take you in the right direction but be careful if you choose to enter the fray with these guys they get pretty Az-hole-ish if you know what I mean
