I timed how long it takes my computer to come up so I can start working on it. It took 5 mins, how can I get this to load faster?

Processor: Intel Core i5 CPU
Windows: Windows Pro 7
Memory: 6 GB

In this case your question can not be answered without your system specs. Sort of like asking how fast can my car go without telling us what the engine is.

At the top of the page...quick links/ new posts/user cp...click on user cp that page is where you can fill out your profile...click on edit system spec's....when finished we can see your specs at the bottom of your posts

You might want to give Soluto a try. I did and was able to shave 18 seconds off my already good boot time.

I uninstalled it once I understood what needed to be done since it was just ine more CPU/Memory utilizing program. When I did this it undoes any changes it makes. I did not see a way to leave the changes but there may be by now.

What I did was look at what was being changed then implement it for myself in other ways, via msconfig and services.msc mostly.

How long have you had this system? Has it always been slow? Did this develop over time or suddenly?
You should be fairly fast...Get microsoft security essentials(make sure you are on microsoft's website)and run a scan

I'd think that thing should boot in no more than 60 seconds. It's more powerful than my PC and I boot in 50 seconds or so.

What do you show in the startup tab when you take a look at msconfig?? Uncheck everything listed there and check the time on a reboot, then go back to msconfig and re-check your antivirus application(s). Anti-virus and JAVA are all I have listed in the startup tab.

Do you have 70 plus processes running when your PC finally does boot?
