Need help- brightness shortcut doesn't work, pretty much black screen..except faint can see images only if I shine a light on it, very hard to see...it was working originally night before, I had been working on the net for my business then the next time I started the laptop ..win 7 - 64 bit, it was dark so I started in safe mode then it showed bright I could see everything, I did some work went to bed woke up and started it. It refused to light up on both safe mode and regular start mode. Any suggestions??

This post looks like a repeat I saw some months ago here or on tenforums, but try as I might I can't locate it.

On the keypad of the laptop there should be a brightness key (possibly a secondary function FN key). Try that.

What's the make and model of the laptop?

Function keys (FN) work by holding the FN key and then pressing the desired secondary function for that key.

Hi

in reality WHAT shortcut, its not a standard MS one is it???

best option is the Ease of Access "folder" to be found within Control panel

there should also be an option within the HP "bloatware"

FN "x", where x is higher/lower, has nothing todo with what i suggested!!!!, thats likely part of the HP bloatware i mentioned

open Ease of Access from the control panel

please tell me what the model no of your comp is

please also update your graphics driver..... might help
